Some people prefer to derail a thread they don't like.
Yes, sadly, that is the case.

SolomonVII,
I appreciate your comments.
My point for this thread is really not to argue the abortion issue; but to address the issue of the demeaning remarks Republicans have made about women and the issue of rape; and also Romney's disdain for the poor, elderly, disabled, veterans, etc.--all those who fall into the 47% who don't pay taxes.

If you realize that the rest of what he says about the poor is actual propaganda to get elected. Telling the people what they want to hear instead of the truth.Sorry, but that ain't true. One comment cannot translate into "disdain"

Thanks for the clarity.
I was already aware that the purpose of your thread revolves around anti-Republican propaganda though.
While I do believe what many of the quoted republican candidates said was distasteful, I also think it is wrong to generalize the whole republican party to hold these extreme positions. I also think it is a bit disingenuous to link these comments to Romney's presidential bid. If you are going to criticize Romney, please address his actual words and policy positions.
It's called life experience. You are old enough to realize that people tell others what they want to hear when it is beneficial to them. Politicians come in one flavor and that is liar, that is their job. To say whatever they think the people want to hear. And your evidence to corroborate your opinion?

There are two kinds of people though, one that sees the suffering of others and feels sorry for them, and one that doesn't feel sorry for them. The most common way to avoid feeling sorry for them is to blame the person suffering. Which one do you think Romney is? Does he feel sorry for the poor, wishing he could do more or wish they would just pull themselves up by the bootstraps and get to work?

Yes, I know I'm continuing a derail... extremely sorry.
Show that I am inaccurate with a demonstration of the supporting data that you expect of others.Derail I can accept. Inaccuracy without supporting data, no response.

Yeah, that was a jaw dropping percentage of the populous that he was talking about. I wasn't surprised by the lack of empathy, but the using the poor like they are the problem in society, in front of the wealthy donors, is something that I had a hard time with. I understand why people lack empathy for the poor because empathy requires you do something, but demonizing of the poor is just something that I can't understand to tell you the truth.ElijahW,
Well, you're not really derailing. Romney's comments about the 47% were made when he was speaking to a small group and were not intended for the general public. I think this tape reveals his true feelings; and his lack of empathy for the poor, elderly, disabled, veterans, etc., are part of what tipped the scales for me in this Presidential race.

I understand the context he was able to blame the poor in.This is not what the comment was about; not at all. It was about not attempting to pursuade that 47% of voters, because it would be wasted effort.
Their own poverty or non tax paying status to be more exact.
