Trump will never give you up, let you down

Furious RNC platform committee member: We spent thousands just to be 'rolled'

A member of the closed-door Republican Party platform committee meeting unleashed her own fury after the committee voted to pass former President Donald Trump's policies into the party as a whole.

Gail Ruzicka, a platform committee member from Utah ... was incensed.

"I've never seen this happen before. I don't understand why they did it, and I'm extremely disappointed that we do not have any pro-life language," she said about the GOP's new policy that rejects the federal ban on abortion.

Self-described pastor, Stephen Simpson of Alabama took to social media to say, "Donald Trump is not Pro-Life. He has cynically used the Pro-Life movement and played Evangelicals in general. It was all transactional, a Faustian bargain. The GOP is a cult of personality. Sincerely, A Former Longtime GOP Activist and Continuing Christ Follower."
A law which places a federal ban on abortion would probably never ever have enough votes to pass through the US Senate. Also, I believe that the SCOTUS would probably declare a federal national ban upon abortion to be unconstitutional. I am very, very, very strongly pro-life and anti-abortion. Yet, at the same time, my fellow pro-lifers need to understand the reality of the situation here.

One of the realities is that abortion saves lives. In states with draconian abortion laws, no one was surprised that maternal death rates rose but unexpectantly, so did neonatal death rates.

Although, I am not sure that it could possibly have been unexpected as those laws forced women to carry to term all nonviable fetuses.

FAR More unborn babies are killed by abortion than lives of mothers being saved because of abortions.

I doubt that holds true for the states with the draconian laws. They can't even get an abortion to expel an already dead fetus.

There's a whole thread about the woman in Texas. Read it.
A woman in Texas ..... compared to the millions of unborn babies being killed.

In other words, they don't intend to actually do anything to shore up SS itself. They're just going to wave a magic wand and make the economy better so that the SS taxes will somehow fix the long-term SS problem.

Trump isn’t leaving himself many options to save Social Security

“FIGHT FOR AND PROTECT SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE WITH NO CUTS, INCLUDING NO CHANGES TO THE RETIREMENT AGE,” the platform reads.

However, this promise leaves Trump and the GOP with few options to address the looming shortfalls in both entitlements programs. The solutions floated typically include cutting or slowing the growth of benefits, raising the retirement age or hiking payroll taxes either by increasing the rate for everyone or lifting the threshold on income subjected to the levy – though Republicans have generally been opposed to raising payroll taxes.

“It’s not a genuine policy prescription to save Social Security,” Jason Fichtner, chief economist at the Bipartisan Policy Center and former acting deputy commissioner of Social Security, said of the party platform.

Shoring up Social Security by increasing revenue would require a sizable tax increase. The program’s trustees calculated that the payroll tax rate would have to immediately increase by 3.33% to 15.73% or, if nothing is done until the trust funds are depleted, the hike would be 4.02% to 16.42%.

Yet, are you concerned about the millions of unborn babies killed by abortion? The death of this specific woman in Texas is just as tragic as is the killing of an unborn baby in a mother's womb. For me? They are both sad tragic events.

We are not given to understand the will of God my friend. We are obviously not capable of handling this burden. Which is why we find serenity in the Word, not the world.

Proposed GOP platform silent on same-sex marriage

It’s a dramatic change for a party that has long used opposition to same-sex marriage to rally social conservatives. It also reflects broader changing societal views about such relationships — as well as how much Trump has changed the GOP.

“This is a pro-family platform, but it provides a place for our families too,” said [Log Cabin Republicans President] Moran, an RNC delegate from San Pedro.

The proposed Republican platform mentions marriage just once, in a paragraph about families: “Republicans will promote a Culture that values the Sanctity of Marriage, the blessings of childhood, the foundational role of families, and supports working parents.”

Notably, [the platform] scrapped previous language opposing abortion [leaving it to the states]. This policy shift has received the lion’s share of attention and criticism from conservatives.

However, some Republicans have also lamented the lack of language on marriage, such as former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and the National Assn. of Christian Lawmakers.

“When we heard there was an organized effort to whitewash the GOP platform on the issues of life and marriage, we could hardly believe it,” said South Carolina state Rep. John R. McCravy III, who also serves as the Palmetto state’s chair of the association

The matter will be voted on next Monday, the opening day of the convention in Milwaukee. But given Trump’s backing of the proposal, it’s almost certain to pass.

[The shift in the Trump GOP reflects a shift in the culture.] In 1996, 27% of Americans believed same-sex marriages should be recognized as valid, according to a Gallup poll. Earlier this year, that number in the same poll had increased to 69%.

Furious RNC platform committee member: We spent thousands just to be 'rolled'

A member of the closed-door Republican Party platform committee meeting unleashed her own fury after the committee voted to pass former President Donald Trump's policies into the party as a whole.

Trump allies stalked RNC delegates to crush dissent over party platform: NYT

Tabitha Walter, the executive director of the conservative group Eagle Forum, told the New York Times Thursday one Republican party official followed her so closely it created a "very hostile" atmosphere and raised suspicions about “strong-arming."

“Anywhere I would go get coffee and go to the bathroom, she would follow me around,” Walter reportedly said. “Any time I would take notes, she would read them.”

The setting was the closed-door policy committee meeting on July 8 where for the first time in years, the press was barred from covering the event during which former President Donald Trump's policy became Republican National Committee policy.

Members told the Times they were forced to pass the proposal without even being allowed to read it, despite the expectation that they would be given two days to debate and contribute to its contents.

Writes the Times, "It showcases a candidate who is increasingly confident of his own vision and who has surrounded himself with a team that knows both the rules and how to bend them."

Number 3 is probably deflation. They're predicting it.
Number 5 is definitely false. The force is robotic.
Number 6 isn't specific which means everyone eats.
Number 10 escapes my mind but when I recall I'll post it.
Number 11 is smart cities.
Number 12 isn't necessary if Number 8 is the plan. The war machine continues.
Number 13 is categorically untrue and the irony of its number is fitting.
Number 14 is already settled and will be digital.
Number 15 is moot given the insurance increase. EVs cost less as an incentive.
Number 16 if the government wanted it gone it wouldn't be there.
Number 17 who are you kidding? Next!
Number 18 where are you sending them to Iran? Nonsense.
Number 19 is real id they moved the date to 2025.
Number 20 is crypto.

Congress could also remove/raise the cap on FICA/SS taxes (currently $168,000)?
Raising the minimum wage would inject some funds at the lower end of the pay scale as well?

1. Protect Social Security Social Security is a lifeline for millions of Retirees, yet corrupt politicians have robbed Social Security to fund their pet projects. Republicans will restore Economic Stability to ensure the long-term sustainability of Social Security.
His rhetoric is aggressive but it's truthful. The government has borrowed from SS but the real shenanigans happened in the 80s when lawmakers changed the way the cost of living was calculated. Grandma with a $500 SS check.
