I still have not received an answer to a few questions;

If staff is not acting imappropriately and no other poster's personal information is at risk why should I not be permitted to post the report thread?

Who actually was responsible for making this decision? Was it staff only, LeeD only or a combination of both?

What is the definition of harassment? If a poster can be banned based upon one act of harassment, is it not appropriate to define what harassment is?

Will these respectfully asked questions be answered?

To those who are concerned about lack of ability to personally watch all moderation actions...

Lack of trust on all sides creates more problems than you can imagine and it is hard work to de escalate peeved people without extras jumping in and revving them up again in thread and out.

God is our best intercessor in the hearts and minds of Moderators administrator and owners. As a New moderator I have already been through three transitions in the less than two months. It changes who gets reported for what. It changes the way we handle over all moral and trust issues. Being gagged is no fun anymore than being under informed.

Some people are persistently undermining authority, credibility and character of others and yes both staff and general members can get paranoid.. and yes that does not guarantee moderators and posters are on the square.

Some Things we have to do may make us look like the bad guy when we are just following protocol to make sure things are as fair and safe as we know how to make it, no one being hacked, and no one systematically disrupting harmony and dissuading faith.

We are all human. We all need prayers, consideration and understanding.

No one should have their comments published without permission to the general forum. This includes moderators.

This process with the accused being able to answer for their infractions, will certainly speed up some reports and slow down others.

The Reconciliation team is available for appeals if someone feels they are being singled out and treated unfairly.

I would suggest that if you feel you need an advocate that is unbiased that you look up a system for determining an advocate to reconcile differences between parties and put it in the suggestion forum. It is easy to have a ton of people complaining about rules and yet not so many have thought through viable and workable suggestions

On our team our diversity allows us to have at least one person advocating at any given time. I thank our admin’s for making that happen.

This is my personal unauthoritative opinion... I respect that others may think differently.

Just a couple of things:

1. If our PMs to Staff regarding Reports and official actions are considered part of the public record and can be reposted, then their PMs to us are likewise fair game.

2. Advocates and Reconciliation Teams are not the way people in a community interact. Sure, there are always a few whose first response is "Take it up with my lawyer", but most people prefer to talk things out face-to-face. That's the basic function of a community. That's the basic function of a messageboard.

3. If this isn't the job you signed up for, and if you're being forced by "just following protocol" into doing things you don't feel are right, then why on earth are you still doing it?

("You" here, being generic and not directed at bananna, specifically.)

Yes, that would be nice.

I propose that the current situation must, at all costs, be repeatedly challenged. If everyone sits down, shuts up, and acts like good little boys and girls, then the problems will never be addresed. The current system is designed to keep the Members in the dark.

Things cannot be changed by a "wait and see" attitude in the hopes that someone will fix things. The things we value must be fought for--tooth and bloody nail.

In my opinion, anyone who values truth, honesty, fairness, and real communication must, must, must resist these Machiavelian rules where we're essentially not allowed to complain.

Rise up and smite them. Make their eyes water. Learn karate.

Our God knows more than Karate, he knows how to change hearts and minds.

The Centurian said he was a man of authority who knows what it was to say to a servant go and they went and come and they came and he knew what it was to be under authority.

Likewise all those under authority have access to the ear of the God of the universe through Yeshuah HaMashiach (Jesus the Christ our head). All those under the headship of Christ abide in his will.
I believe that includes we respect the rules and show respect to authorities set in place over us.

This weeks little story lesson was on a Jewish man having the ear of the king on behalf of a righteous man.

Good thing we don't have to be perfect for God to hear the cry for Justice.

I have an issue with this whole "authorities set in place over us" thing.

You are not subject to anybody. Ever.

And those who respect bad, hurtful rules, are accountable (I believe) for the hurt those rules cause.

You have been set free--embrace your freedom.

Ah dear brother LT,
The head of the woman is the man, the head of the man is the Messiah the head of the messiah the Father.

I guess I see scripture as saying other wise. I respect your desire for justice, I just see God as having the right to set the order of authority and government. In the US if one buys someting they own it. I won't agree to do anything ungodly or unethical neither do I see any ungodly or or unethical rules. Life is not Fair though. It was not fair that my savior died so I might live... I'm just so thankful he did.

Per the OP:
1)Is there a start-date for this to be up yet?
2)Also, being that the report graphic isn't available to all members now, is the coding in place where multiple reports on the same post cannot be made? Please tell me it is :(
3)TBH, the one thing I see as being a problem is the definition of harassment, which is becoming more of an issue to many members, as it may not always be distributed 'equally' (such as X amount of unwanted contacts and so forth) but then it needs to be taken into account that situations vary, and no two situations will be the exact same.

fwiw, I tend to agree, especially to the matter I bolded, in general. I do not do "authority" nor am I very accepting of it's placement, however, for a board such as this, I realize that there has to be some order, lest the entire thing turn to shambles.

Beg to differ. I am indeed a Christian, but not everyone who is posting in this thread, or this board, is, and will see the woman->man->Messiah->Father thing. Nor do I. Nor do I adhere to the "Messiah->Father" hierarchy.

No offense at all to you, but voicing my 0.02 for this.

1Cr 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman [is] the man; and the head of Christ [is] God.

It is my opinion that a Christian board should exemplify biblical princiipals.

I agree we need a good solid difinition for harrassment, flaming, sedition, mutany... or whatever would be considered unacceptable behavior by any given group.

It will cover the moderators actions when they come to reconciliation.

Great point. Unfortunately, I don't think a very clear answer of "harassment" is possible. That's my opinion, but with every clarification is limitation.

Sedition? On a messageboard?

I was charged with Sedition once... I had Alice Cooper lyrics in a notebook, from a song called "Freedom", and the Military Police considered them seditious.

Charges lasted all of about 3 minutes, when the Base Commander asked the MP if he was "(navy word) stupid?"

I think we need to hit some folks for false reporting. Just reading this thread there are a number of reported posts that don't amount to anything other than over-sensitive personalities.

really people! chill

As far as the rule change.. its a step in the right direction. But I wouldn't call it good.

Because Christian Forums should be about posting on a Christian Forum. It's just like any other institution - these are the rules and conditions of participation.

Who actually was responsible for making this decision? Was it staff only, LeeD only or a combination of both?
Both, and it was suggested by a member.

What is the definition of harassment? If a poster can be banned based upon one act of harassment, is it not appropriate to define what harassment is?
If you are harassing someone, you will be told far before you are banned. If there is some disparity at any time, you can appeal it. Harassment would include (but not be limited to) such things as:
- Following someone from thread to thread
- Posting their name/personal information
- PMing or otherwise contacting someone when you know that contact is unwelcome
- singling out a person or persons to mock or belittle
- threatening to contact their work/church/spouse/family or suggesting that other people do it
- posting veiled references to people
- misquoting people
