Are we morally obligated to report crimes?
Against our own family?
What if we knew a lot of drug dealers than gave our lives to Christ…are we obligated to report the to the authorities?

This was kind of a topic of another thread. that posted earlier today.

Believers are to judge believers, God will take care of unbelievers.

I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner—not even to eat with such a person.

For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? But those who are outside God judges. Therefore “put away from yourselves the evil person.”

What if a child tells you they are being punched in the chest?

If a person is doing something against you or your child yes call the police. But in reality a believer should separate from unbelievers as people to have as hang around friends.

You should witness to these people but keep them as unbelievers to be witnessed to not to hang around with.

But when as a believer your best chance at staying strong and growing in your faith. Is to really leave secular unbelievers to their life style.

In my 57 years of living i have had to only call the police about three times. For something that has happen to me or my property.

Yes, I believe you are obligated. If there were no harm in drugs and they didn't hurt anyone or kill people, it would be no big deal....but even if you save the life of one person, that would more than reward your efforts.

That does not surprise me, as we have completely different views on Biblical verses and understanding.

I don't think we are obligated to tell everything we know unless you are seeing a violent crime a robbery, someone is in danger etc.

would you get a pic of every car you saw speeding and report them ? I don't think the Bible says you have to do that.

What if a child reports abuse to us…should we report that? To speak up for the ones who can’t speak up for themselves?

I would say yes, like if you witness a crime you should be willing to testify especially if your testimony will help convict a person who is guilty. But just know (which you may already know) the system is a secular one and can be very dishonest.

We have a moral obligation to defend those who can not defend themselves.
