Hi,Fellow Christians.

I heard that if you repeat your same prayers everyday is just like not praying to God is it true?because i always repeat the same prayers since i was a child. If its true then, How do you pray to God differently without repeating the same prayers everyday?

God wants you to tell Him what is on your heart. Repeating the same prayers every day doesn't do you any good, because they aren't from your heart. You need to love God with all of your heart, mind soul and strength. He desires a personal relationship with you. Your relationship to Him is a son to a Father. Talk to Him and share your thoughts and feelings and ask Him to help you with the intimate details of your life. Praise Him and worship Him and affirm your love for Him. Open your heart to Him and ask Him to come in and fill those spaces. Cast your cares upon Him.

Let me ask you this..do you feel like God is far away from you or does He feel near to you?

It really just goes to what is in a person's heart. If someone repeats the same prayer every day with only good intentions, then God knows this - He sees the heart and understands and accepts these prayers.

If a person is only repeating the same prayers because he thinks it is a commandment, then God sees that too.

Some might pray a different prayer every day but only do it to fulfill a commandment or out of fear - these have legalism in their hearts.

I believe God wants us to just be open, honest, and frank with him; talk to him the way one would a most trusted friend.

Even writing letters to God; spilling out one's deepest and innermost desires and concerns is a great way to pray.

I think it all depends on how your praying. If you say the same prayer out of feeling you have to, then there could be an issue with that. FOr me my prayer for the most part is the same every night. Although obviously there are changes like if someone wanted me to pray for them and so on. The most important part is you pray and actually mean it, as in your not like "Soooooo. God I want to pray for a good day at work tomorrow and uh... I think thats it...yeah. Amen".

When you pray, you are communicating to God just like you would do in a close father and child relationship where you listen and talk to him. Confess your sins and come to him with a humble heart and with your whole heart because you really want to be there and develop a close relationship. Talk to him from the heart, freely, spontaneously, and in your own words. Tell him how your day was, both the good and the bad, your worries and troubles, and your needs. Have faith and believe that God will answer your prayers.

You can use a repetitive prayer as a sort of framework. The changes you make can be appropriate to your situation and concerns for a particular day. Making changes on the fly puts your thoughts and heart into the prayer. This is what God desires.

This is a good idea. For instance, when I pray, I usually pray for the following:
- the world as a whole, current issues, etc.
- those who have yet to accept God
- anyone I know in need
- family
- myself
Having a "framework," as timf calls it, can help you make sure you're covering a number of different things. I sometimes repeat myself from day to day, but that's fine.

The television news gives a bigger picture of what's going on in other countries than our own. Terrible environmental disasters and negative government policy reactions from protesters are just two of the most common events that seem to have no relation to the ancient puzzling prophecies in Revelations:.
The Word of God as we know it is translated in English. But how is it a book of events that relates to human history in the past and present besides future events that no one knows exactly what or who will cause a great change or a great disaster, is a mystery and I definitely believe that once Jesus has returned sometime in this future of difficult economic times, and transformed us with new minds and bodies so Christ-like,
we will know for sure what hieroglyphics-like Hebrew language back then that is so encryptic about the secret historic recording events by God, that poor Satan had taken ages trying to solve these prophetic verses right from the first verse in Genesis to the last verse in Revelations .;'*';.

I believe that recitations and memorized prayers can be useful models for how we should talk to God. But I also believe that, as your Father, He wants a more personal, candid conversation with you, too :) I mean, the Bible says to make our requests known to God... kinda hard if we're all reciting the same, formulated prayer :) Sure, you can say that a model prayer, like the Lord's Prayer, is a cover-all approach, but does that really promote intimacy with God? Would you be OK if your children just say "Hi Dad, I had a good day, thanks for taking care of me, love you, goodnight" once a day and never said anything else to you?

If Jesus was standing there in front of you would you ask him the same thing over and over and over and over?

Good point, Soph. Jesus fellowshipped intimately with His disciples and followers. Why would He want anything less with us?

No. The exhortation is too avoid vain repetition of repeating prescribed prayers as in Judaism and even Catholicism. Yeshua told the story of a man who had a neighbor come to him in the night knocking at his door to ask for something for a guest that his neighbor had received. After much knocking the man opened the door and gave him what he wanted for his neighbors guest.
Yeshua said that our God and Father is like that man who after much knocking is pleased to answer our petitions. We are encouraged to keep praying, keep asking God for the same needs until He gives us an answer.

It doesn't matter if you use the same prayers every day if you mean them- which you are supposed to do. If you find your mind drifting during your prayers- then you need to bring your focus back to God. We are told to pray without ceasing- which is the prayer of the heart.

Here are some good resources on prayer that I've found helpful:

As others have said, it all depends on the motivations and the heart. Worship patterns and repeated prayer can be a great part of a balanced Christian life. Just don't be afraid to think, pray, and meditate on those words that you just said. "Unpack it" in your own way. When praying the Our Father for example, each phrase can lead us down different paths and things to pray about.

Hi. Good question you asked here ; the Bible says not to pray in vain repitition to God. That would mean praying rehearsed prayers and repeating them several time (and keeping track of them as many are inclind to do) . God doesnt want to hear shallow prayers from a record in our Minds...but from our HEART and SOUL by going much deeper . He wants to hear about things that a very moving to us in our lives, whether good or bad including prayers for others wellbeing or for their salvation. When we talk in person to our best earthly Friend, we dont repeat the same old stuff time and time again, do we ? Its the same with God...he wants us to talk to him as we would our very best Friend and in great reverence for him being our Maker and the awesome person he is as the Creator of the entire Universe which he has in he palm of his hand.

I would encourage you to spend your personal prayer time in great depth with your Heavnly Father, and to get into prayer circles as much as you can so you can hear how others release their prayers to God . Make sure these kinds of Circles are Evangelical by nature ; prayers to God arent supposed to represent pious religiousity .
