  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ever since Taylor Hicks won American Idol, I've gone "au naturale" salt and pepper,
but I was thinking of changing my color to light brown. I use Nice N Easy.

If I went "au naturale", I'd look like a skunk. I got a big glob of white hair in the back of my head, right in the middle.

relieved:p

what movie did you see?

I took my grandboys to see The Spiderwick Chronicles last weekend - my youngest grandson said it was "weally scawy" so we left.

I need a good "makeup" movie to take them to.

We saw the new(ish) National Treasure. We were going to see Enchanted, but my daughter decided that it would be too girly for the boys, so we changed it to National Treasure, and only one boy showed up. :D

How old are your grandsons?

Today we had my daughter's birthday party. Rented a room at the local half-price theatre and had a roomful of kids in to watch a movie. Only about half the kids that we invited showed up (with no RSVP :sigh: ), I don't know whether to be upset or relieved. ^_^

my daughter's favorite was to have a sleep over. everyone always showed up. and never slept. we always had fun, lots of giggling, pizza, movies, crafts and games, but it took me days to recover from the lack of sleep.

thinking about it now....I miss those days.

I can't think of any movies at the moment to help you out. :sigh: I wondered if that movie would be too much for some kids. How old are they? Our daughter is 10.

Lukas will be 7 in 2 months - he was fine with it. Later on he apologized to Logan though (which I thought was really sweet) because he chose the movie.

Logan is 3 1/2 (4 in June) - he started getting nervous about 1/3 of the way through the movie and ended up on my lap. About 20 minutes later he got off my lap and started walking out of the theater. So we left.

The movie is rated PG - my kids read several reviews and thought it would be ok - from the couple of reviews I read I thought the same thing.

Hard to judge sometimes - Logan loved Transformers which is full of fighting. I think the fact that Spiderwick Chronicles involved children and not cars and trucks made a difference. It was more believable to him.

I did tell Lukas that we could pick up the books for him to read. I'll probably take him to the movie alone sometime so he can see the end of it.

For the last 3 years, her party was at the skating rink (roller skating/blading), but she went to a friend's house for a sleepover party and swore that is what she wanted, and about a month ago, changed her mind. Luckily, there was still a party room at the theatre open.

(And I'm just as glad to not have a house full of kids running around. LOL.)

Well that's too bad that it didn't turn out to be a good movie for them. I'm sure something will come along that they'll really enjoy. It's really hard to tell how a child is going to like something.

When the animated movie Monster House came out I rented it for our daughter who was about 8 at the time. Scared her even though she watched it all. I thought it was a little frightening for kids myself. This house eats people and things.

Anyway, my younger sister who lives about 40 minutes from me, her kids LOVED it. They are 4 (almost 5) and 3 years old. *shrug* Go figure.

That's good. Do you have anything big planned for tomorrow after church?

Nothing going on with us. We have no life. ^_^ I clean two churches on Sunday. After that I'll be eating dinner and then grocery shopping. :)

What did you think of it? Maybe it's just me but I thought for young kids it was a little frightening to have a house that was alive and eats people and things. :sorry:
