  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Rep me, and I will return the reps.

Edie, I have not forgotten about getting the pix uploaded. I am writing an icon for the consecration of the new Orthodox Bishop of Pittsburgh that needs to be done by Friday. I will get the pix uploaded in the morning.

how do you write an icon? I thought they were pictures (for lack of a better word because I know they're more than that) along the line of a work of art.

I did see the pics - they're just terrific (very professional looking)

will share with my son, he'll be most appreciative (and he'll get a chuckle out of your Miroslav S. comment - we say his last name at my house)

Orthodox icons are said to be written because the iconographer (person painting the icon) passes the icon on from generation to generation without adding or subtracting anything from the icon. Thus the iconographer is said to be writing the icon, much like if he were writing a theology text.

I have a really nice Nikon D80 camera with a very high resolution Tamron 28-300 mm lens. I try real hard to take as high quality of pictures as I can.
