  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Rep me, and I will return the reps.

Pittsburg did have a great 5 minutes in the second period - and the Wings had an awful one at the same time

I still think the Wings will win - historically they tend to rebound extremely well from a game like last nights, also historically, it's extremely rare for a team to win the Stanley Cup after losing the first 2 games

History won't stop Crosby, Malkin, Staal and company! The momentum has now seriously swung in the Penguins direction!

The Penguins have the 2 best players in the world.

according to some of the press

in actuality the best player in the world wears #5 and plays for Detroit

and while he hasn't played in this series - Pavel Datsyuk is up for the same awards that SC is because he's equally as talented (Hossa actually said in an interview earlier this year that Datsyuk is the best/smartes forward in the NHL). While Detroit hasn't emphasized the fact that their top forward isn't on the ice, I can't help but wonder if Pittsburgh would be making excuses if they didn't have Crosby or Malkin playing. I've heard a couple hockey media speculate that NBC and the NHL wouldn't have been so quick to start the series if it had been Crosby or Malkin hurt.

Everyone knows that Marion Hossa's word means very little. He says one thing, and does another.

You did not see last year (2007-2008 season) when Crosby was out for several months with an ankle sprain and Malkin carried the team. Malkin took his game to an unheard of level in order to compensate for Crosby being hurt. Nope, I don't think Pittsburgh fans would cry foul if we were playing without Malkin or Crosby. It is not our style. Not with hockey or with football.

I did see last year and fwiw, I think Malkin is a much better player than Crosby. And I should differentiate between Pburg media and fans - I'm wondering what the press would say.

Sorry, but there are times this year when the media acts like only one team is on the ice - and that team isn't Detroit. Example (and I'm not trying to be rude or confrontational here, just love hockey) after game 2 multiple media sources (including the NHL network, ESPN & NBC) were saying that Pburg would have won if it weren't for hitting the post a couple of times. They didn't say that after game 3 when Detroit hit the post and crossbar a couple of times. Now personally, I've never seen a hockey game where the posts don't save a goal or two. There is a double standard this year because the media wants Sid the Kid to win. (I have friends who are hockey fans of multiple different teams across the NHL and they pretty much all agree there is a media bias this year).

Mind you, I'm not whining here either - Detroit didn't get the job done the last 2 games when they could and should have. They played a horrendous third period in game 3, a horrendous 5 minutes in the 2nd period of game 4 - in games when they otherwise outshot Pittsburg. They made mistakes and the losses were their fault. However, in playoff hockey each game is a game unto itself and I don't think momentum means a whole lot when you're going from home ice to visitor's ice (i.e. game 4 to game 5). Bylsma has said as much too.
