I told her about it and let's just say no matter what I said, she believed him over me, because if he said I am lying - then I must be lying.

I made sure to emphasise that if he goes to court and passes the test then he can come get her whenever he wants.

I told them both I want to be wrong, but can't risk her safety just in case.

Too frequently the absent or less present parent is usually put on a pedestal. She is also at the right age to be a daddy's girl still. Just remember, she does not have to understand right now.....but she will some day.

The court idea actually sounds like it would be a good idea...he definitely is free to try and get visitation, AFTER he proves he is clean. You sound as though you would welcome court, since it will prove you joyfully wrong, or establish parameters for him to obtain visitation if you are right.

exactly! I know she loves her dad and I would love to see him either prove me wrong or be forced into doing the right thing...

in the meantime she has become especially clingy with my boyfriend...the first guy I ever let her be "attached" to...I expect this is some form of compensation?

My BIL wanted to cut off all access to his son's mother. He too worried that is son would later resent him for it. So he let him have monitored conversations with her. Soon enough her true colors came out.

He's not seen or spoke to her in coming up on 2 years of her choice not my BILs and not my nephew's. In the end he's better off without her. He was taking on too much for a child his age. He does however miss his half sister but sometimes these things can't be helped.

My Aunt had to cut off my cousins from my Uncle 4 years ago and they are the better for it. She tried keeping him in their lives and it was more damaging then him not being in their lives.

Didn't you say you were getting married soon? Maybe I am confusing you with someone else. If you are though.... and he wants to adopt her, you could get her dad to sign over rights so he doesn't have to pay child support anymore and then you'll be truly free of his bad influence.
