Remembering Dan.

Since I stick mainly to the prayer forum, I know that the one thing that mattered most to Dan was for people to pray for his sons. Some people ask what they can do to help - well, I think this is the single most important thing we can do, and it would honor Dan's wishes as well. I have been praying for them a lot and it looks like many others here are too. Let's keep it up. I think he was a good dad regardless of how he felt about himself.

Would it help Katie to know that there are a lot of people that didn't know them IRL that are praying for them and really do care about them? Maybe direct her to this site.
Since you know her in person, I do hope that you continue to check in with her and I do agree that a camping trip would be a great idea, but if not even that, then get together for something, just for the sake of getting together because you care.

The camping thing is a good idea. I've thought about seeing if someone can invite her to the site too as you mentioned. I don't know because I've never been in her situation and I can't get inside her head to see how she feels about everything. I don't think it would be a particularly bad thing though.

Awwwww sounds like a good idea.....maybe somebody she knows and trusts can? I pray she does come. She and the boys are loved. I cannot imagine what she's going through right now. Praying that God makes a way for this to happen. (((hug)))

The problem with inviting her to this site is that we have people who have less than an ideal amount of tact all the way down to downright evil posting here along with the loving posts.

I agree we have to make sure we aren't going to have another hater attack before we thing of inviting her here. I think it would be a good place for her though.


Here is Dan and his baby (Harley). He loved to ride that thing on Sundays and sometimes we'd go out together when my bike was actually up and running. The second and third aren't my pictures (I already posted the 3rd but then had deleted it). The 2nd one was Christmas in Djibouti, Africa. Their "Christmas Tree" has pictures of a couple guys they lost a couple weeks earlier.

I wasn't there at this time but I'm assuming some local Iraqi boys. They were very intrigued with us and loved to hang out while we posted up. THey wanted us to give them water and candy. "Meestah Meestah, gimmee gimmee!" I think they gravitated toward Dan more though. They'd give us intel sometimes too.

Yeah he was really good with the kids, and he looked out for them.

I think it is huge that we are praying because we are asking the Almighty God to comfort them and help them to heal, but still I wish there was more we could do. I know there is not, but I wish there was.

I miss you bro. I know there's probably a lot better things to do up there. You and Danny got a lot of catching up to do. But I hope you can read this and see how many people cared about you and are praying for Katie and the boys. You are missed. I'm sorry I wasn't a better friend.

So I've been looking to volunteer this year. I did a volunteer thing for Kohls last weekend at a ballet studio. I steamed dresses and made head pieces with cheap fake flowers.

On Facebook I saw a post about this website and now I am thinking I might want to volunteer to do this.

I had no idea that Dan died in the manner he did. I feel so horrible for him. Well, I guess I should feel worse for his children and the rest of his family because they are the ones who are now hurting. They are in my prayers. I'm assuming Katie was his wife/ex-wife?? She is in my prayers as well. Such a horrible thing to happen
