We used to watch Disneyland every Sunday afternoon. Do you remember that programme?

Do you remember when you could oly buy soda in 8 packs of glass bottles and you had to return the bottles to get you deposite money back? And, as a kid did you ask your mom and your neighbors if you could take their bottles back for them so that you could keep the money?

I remember scavenger hunts. As a game, we would make a list for each person playing & then we had to knock on doors in the neighbourhood & ask the neighbours to supply us with things on our list. We had toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, newspapers, magazines, coins, pop bottles, bobby pins, safety pins, etc. on our list.


It was a lot of fun & the neighbours enjoyed it too!

Remember when there were no shops open on Sundays except for the corner dairy (in NZ, anyway)?

Yeah, and here in Australia they shut at midday Saturday, we had time to fit it all in though.

Remember a slot on the door of the loo's to pay a penny to unlock it?

(my mum gave this as I'm too young)

Yes, I remember that. When we were kids and were going into town with Mum, we used to have on our little overcoats and gloves and Mum used to tuck a penny into each of our pockets.
