Found an interesting remark by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the paper yesterday. Goes along the lines of "Although I do not believe Islam to be the final revelation of god, i do belive tha it can show some things in respect to obedience to god" Thoughts anyone on this or the divisions in the Anglican Synod at the moment?

Self-evidently true to anyone who has actually looked at Islamic teaching with an open mind.

Guaranteed to derail your thread.

Nonradical Mulsims seem to behave more like Christians are supposed to than lots of Christians do. Maybe thats it?

Christianity is the only religion that leads to the gates of heaven. Jesus Christ is the true son of God. He did not run from, or escape, death...he defeated it. To promote any other religion is to lead astray the children of Christ. This is cut and dry. There is no riding the fence. If these statements have upset you then you should reevaluate your heart to make sure it is on the side of Christ; for there are only two sides-the side of Christ and the side of Satan. "Acceptance", "tolerance", and "open mind" are all pc catch phrases used to lure persons away from the truth and into a world of "gray". But make no mistake there is no "gray" there is only black and white-right and wrong. I wish somebody would tell President Bush that this Sunday before he gives another speech claiming Islam to be a "good" religion. He should worry less about his poll numbers and more about his eternal soul. Something (eternal soul) all of us, especially myself, should prepare for judgement.

constant, I see you are a Manichean. Unfortunately, Christianity doesn't teach extreme opposites, so I must, out of orthodoxy, utterly disagree with you.

The ABC is right that we can find insights on how to live a Christian life by examining how people of other religions live. I personally have adapted some Buddhist styles of meditation that has improved my Christian walk by a noticable bit.

When the most powerful person in the world is only worried about their own fate, the world really is screwed.

Stop limiting God to your own limited understanding.

Aha - at your pompous best again, PaladinValer. Care to define whatever it was that you called constant. I'm sure he hasn't a clue either.

Paladin,
I have no idea what you termed me as. I'll have to look it up. You can not accept the teachings of other religions if those religion reject Christ as the only path. "I am the way the truth and the light, no one comes to the father accept through me.", the Christ.
PS A very wise pastor once said, "The only happy Christian is one who has never met a theologian."

Ebia,
so you have no problem following a leader whom claims a path, other than the path of Christ, to be "good"? That makes no sense. There is only one way: The path that leads to the lamb of God. And for a leader of this country, whom claims to be a Christian, to say otherwise, trying to appeal to moderates and liberals, is walking a dangerous line. Christ said to be as shrude as a snake, he did not say to place pagan religions on the same plain as the path to Jesus.

Truth is truth, wherever it is found.

You don't know that the path of Islam does not lead there.

Neither did I and neither did ++Cantuar.

So if pagan religions teach that the sun rises in the east...

Christ is truth. And where there is no Christ there is no truth.
The fact that I have to debate this fundamental concept with other Christians show how far we have fallen from the message Jesus brought us. Today we live in a world of academic heights. There are those who like to think of themselves as intellectuals or scholars. They overanalyze and miss out on the simplicity of following, obeying, and loving God. They are too busy thinking they are smarter than God.
