CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Gotta remember a lot of that has to do with ticket prices. How much was a movie in 84? $3, maybe $4? Now it's what, $14?

A lot of that has to do also with the amount of money they actually spent on making the movie.
Remakes aren't going away any time soon. There's too much money to be had on tried and true brands

Hollywood will keep churning out remakes and all that crap as long as people continue to put down money to see it. We're to blame because we're not demanding anything better with our wallets.

Very true. Some movies are not meant to remake. Have yet to see the new The Thing though. Hopefully wasn't too bad...

It wasn't "bad' but confused the viewers..especially at end. Did not even come close to the Kurt Russell version (and that itself was a remake!) They did keep that creepy soundtrack in the beginning though..my cell phone ringtone lol..

I think one other thing to consider is the audience size in 1984 vs 2011. 27 years has the population increased a lot in the US.
