  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

What do you define by having a relationship with God?

I share everything with Him, good, bad... challenging... humbling... exciting... sad.

I make an effort to get to know Him a little more every day because I Love Him and desire to know Him as He knows me.

I trust Him in feast or famine. I surrender to Him that He can use me whenever and wherever He pleases if it benefits His Hopes and Dreams concerning people.

I place Him above all other relationships and acknowledge that He is the most significant part of my Life.

I count all Joy, in Him, though bad comes into my life through my failures or the failures of others.

He is my Teacher, I am His Disciple.

He is entrusted with my very Soul. I willingly surrender my will to Him, but thank Him for my individuality.

He is my Idol. He is my Parent. He is my Best Friend.

God is like a real person to me though invisible. He’s interactive, but I always sense he’s in charge. I sense his presence. I am somehow unshakeably conscious that I am his son. I have an inner appetite for him - I became very aware of this when our church declined and Jesus wasn’t preached . I am conscious of him rebuking me when I sin and him putting his finger on things he wants changed. I sense him wooing me back when I drift away. I see how he has guided my life, sometimes miraculously. I hear him speak to me through bible verses becoming alive or a sense of him whispering a verse into my ear. Once I actually felt him give me a big hug when my wife and I prayed. And lots more ...

According to the book of Daniel relating to God is:

God ‘touching him’ or ‘making him to understand’ the things of God.

Christ did much the same thing when He breathed the Holy Spirit onto the disciples, bringing them into a new relationship with Him according to the understanding in the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit touches the heart to bring understanding.
Quenching or ignoring that is how not to have a relationship with God.

To make him see ~ Daniel 8:18-19,
To give him skill ~ Daniel 9:21-22,
To make him stand ~ Daniel 10:10-11,
To make him speak ~ Daniel 10:16,
To make him strong ~ Daniel 10:18

What do you define by having a relationship with God?
It consists of a mutual love, with His ever present and mine sometimes strong, sometimes weak. It means me striving to obey His will and striving to love neighbor. It means me freely partaking of Him in the Eucharist and seeking Him in prayer, knowing that "Apart from Me you can do nothing".

The Bible shows God as a husband and his people as a wife. How can you relate with that idea?
We wouldn’t know that was His intention unless He had made the mystery known. Romans 7:3-4 shows the 2 natures as the (old nature) husband’s death and the (new nature) wife’s freedom in Christ, for the purpose of bearing fruit to Him.

I acknowledge that I am the subordinate and He is the Provider. I confess I can hear any worthy Love song that is about incredible Love and it all becomes about God.

That is a very good question and one I have not quite completely figured out myself yet. Being many years an evangelical makes me wonder what is the right thing

What do you define by having a relationship with God?

I would say mutual peace, continual communion, and personal knowledge of each other.

Jesus came to reconcile us to God, establishing a right relationship between the two parties.

This!
My new thing is asking Him what's on HIS mind.
I used to go to Him with my list of things I needed to discuss.
Now I ask instead about things HE wants to discuss, figuring
maybe He has better plans, ideas etc (DUH lol)
