Who here Has actually been in a long term relationship or is currently in one? I've been around here for a while but was curious to see were people here have been. I'm currently been dating my first boyfriend for about 6 weeks officially.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I voted "more than 2 long term relationships" because I felt like you meant dating over 6 mons. I dated one for over a year, and another for 9 months. Longest relationships I've had.

I must confess to never having been on a date at all (*looks downhearted*), but was fortunate to have the closest thing to a girlfriend you can probably get to when you're just eleven years old. I had also thankfully began summoning the courage to ask women I have become fond of out over the last four years or so, however, so I consider that a huge step forward for myself.
... But the ladies here in our community, especially Miss Sheena and Milady Quieted, make it so that even considering that fact, unusually, I am feeling perfectly okay with my lifelong singleness so far, and I don't care about being alone (in terms of no physical presence of a lover) at all right now.
(And I am being totally sincere, there.)

I was engaged once, but found out that she was sleeping around. I'm dumped her immediately. Her response was, "But that doesn't mean I don't love you". Yeah, it does. I wouldn't want something like to be the mother of my children.

I'm divorced; wife left me for another guy (technically she had me leave because she had nowhere to move and I was able to move in with my parents for a while). We were together five years, married four.

Several long term relationships as a young woman (1-2years)...still friends with a couple. Married 16+ years before he died. One long term relationship since he died (1 year).

I've had 2 long term relationships. The first was a Ukrainian Catholic and dated him for nearly 5 years. The second was almost 3 years.

Not my business, but I think you should ask her. I believe there have been guys who wanted to ask me out who never did, and I found that frustrating and disappointing and lonely. Don't assume the answer will be no or that it's a big deal if the answer is no. You can even do the preliminary thing. "I'm just wondering, I'd don't know if you're dating right now, but would you ever want to go grab a cup of tea some place?" This gives her a polite out if needed. She could just say, "I'm sorry I'm not dating right now." And no one really has to do the awkward thing.

Several lasted about 3-4, most last 3-6 months.
A couple of ladies wanted to marry the bull but.....
I dont fear commitment, but I do fear committing to the wrong woman. I will not take that kind of step unless I am certain there is nothing on this earth that would keep me from being devoted to that woman.
A woman doesnt have to show me she is perfect, but she does have to prove herself to be a woman worth devoting myself too for life...... just as I expect to prove to her the same before we take that step.

I'd just like to be a weeeee bit picky about the poll options. There should probably be another option for no long term relationship but have regularly dated rather than the only option being a few dates.
As for me, I have not been in a long term relationship in my adult life. Just some dates, pseudo-dates, and mistakes.

Not sure what the criteria is for "long term", so I just selected one. Relationship I'm currently is over 4 years now. Previous one was not quite a year. One before that was approx. 14 months. I technically was engaged as well during that one, but I don't usually count it since I was 18 and dumb.
