had a relapse the other night. Smojked some marijuana and drank 17 beers. Cried the next day mkost of the day. Whats wrong with me??? Jesus let me down and left the porch light off. I got lost in the darkness.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Spend some time in His Word. Maybe get ahold of someone who can be an accountability partner.

You've got to put it behind you and don't beat yourself up. If you dwell on it you will do it again. Move on from it and rededicate yourself. Forgive yourself and go for it again. It happens, It is a symptom of the disease. Don't give yourself the excuse to give up because you slipped up. THis is when you have to make that choice about what you want. Is it more of the same or is it sobriety. If it is sobriety, you know what you have to do. Do you go to meetings? If not I suggest giving one a try. I know it seems corny but I swear they help. They have helped literally millions of people stay clean and sober. We can't do it on our own we need other around us that know what we go through. My family would recomend me me grow a pair amd just shut up. I cant call them. I annoy the people at my chuirch no one wants to talk to me anymore. I cant even type because I slammed my finger in my car doow after the beers. JESUS HELP!!! WHERE ARE YOU TODAY!!!!! AHHHH!

AA meetings are nice but the same people are always there with the same stories. I dont watch tv so I like some spice. Is that just me finding a replacement for my addictions to pornography marijuana and the drink? Now I crave new stories from multiple crisis centers and other addicts. It does ,ake me feel better, but at there cost.

let me come clean again. I have been drinking again today. Started with vodka, now I have apple pucker and tequila. I gotta stop this and I spent to much on it to pour it down the toilet. Is is charity if I give it to someone who does not care about their sins?

Sea Crickets, this is the big thing I hear about AA all the time. THat is what I mean about "I know it sounds corny" I promise this is the last I'll push it because it's supposed to work by attraction rather than promotion. The "meeting" the boring part, first that is onlt some meetings, there are fun ones with young people who don't even talk about drinking but that;s a different point. It's about the step work. THere are 12 steps in AA that if you do them with a sponsor in earnest, I will guarantee you a life free of alcohol and weed. That's the last I'll push about it. I didn't want to get into telling you to do something you don't want to do. They have something called the promises in AA Here they are:
If we are painstaking about this phase of our development, we will be amazed before we are half way through. We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness. We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it. We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace. No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others. That feeling of uselessness and selfpity will disappear. We will lose interest in selfish things and gain interest in our fellows. Self-seeking will slip away. Our whole attitude and outlook upon life will change. Fear of people and of economic insecurity will leave us. We will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us. We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves.
Are these extravagant promises? We think not. They are being fulfilled among us—sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly. They will always materialize if we work for them.

OK now I'm done for real. I apologize for the preaching about it. I've just seen hopeless drunks get sober through the 12 steps I mean people that literally died and came back off their death beds from alcohol poisoning.
I, myself have felt the sting of addiction to booze and narcotics and almost lost my life to a heroin addiction. I went to NA to get my life back. I can only keep what I have by giving it away that's why I carry the message now. I Overdosed and stopped breathing a couple years ago but that didn't stop me. It was only the power of a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps and another program called health realization that deals with mind consciousness and thought.

I know one thing, as long as you keep trying, you will not fail. WHn you quit trying, that's when failure will come for sure. THese slips are just minor setbacks to a much bigger goal. Actually we make the goal bigger than it needs to be. All we need to do is get through one day. THat's the beauty of these days. We only get them coming at us one at a time. All we need to get through is the one we are in. TOmorrow will take care of itself don't worry about it or even yesterday. Yesterday is gone you can't get it back. TOmorrow is not even here yet. All we got is today. Just get through today and you be alright.

Don't give up. I second (third?) the AA meetings. Get stuck into God's word, spend time praying, listen to Christian music that is uplifting. Fill your heart and mind with Godly things and remember that whenever we do stumble God is there to pick us up. God's grace is sufficient for you. God has enough grace to solve every dilemma you face, wipe every tear you cry and answer every question you ask. Praying for you.

Don't go to AA, there's no real evidence that it's any better than placebo.
There are plenty of other rehab programs out there, if you're willing.

AA is most definatly not the only way but it has worked for countless people. I know the research you are talking about and it does not take into consideration multiple relapse people. The truth is if you look at the principles behind the 12 steps it will improve you life if you have a drinking problem or not.

Keep up the good work. It's like being a moth in a lampshade, you get stuck and burn your wings and fall to the ground so you can get back up again. That's what I think about it.
