Regency Time Period RPG

Okay, I was wondering how many people would be interested in a Regency Period RPG. The Regency period would be the time that Jane Austen lived. So, the time period of Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, etc.

I was thinking we could take some of the characters from her novels and make our own story? Only, not use the actual character names. I have no ideas for a plot, so anyone who has an idea, please feel free to post it. Any characters you may want, feel free to post those as well. Even if someone has already claimed the character you want, we can always have more than one, since we're not using the actual names.

So, what does everyone think?

Or, we could always just take the time period and make our own characters, of course. Leaves more open for the imagination. I'm fine with either, to be honest, so give me your ideas and opinions!

I'm up for either side of it. I love her characters and yet it'd be pretty easy to come up with our own too. So whatever you guys think.

Well, I'm interested... I love that time frame. Do we have a plot in mind, though?

lol. No, I don't have a plot in mind. That's just it. So, any ideas to throw out would be awesome.

Obviously romance is going to be a big part of the story, but we'll need an overall story to follow so...yeah. Any ideas or words of advice would be great. I'm leaning more towards using our own characters, that we can make a story easier.

Im thinking of my own character
how about the RP about being stuck in a village which is being quarantined because of a small pox epidemic in the village. No one is allowed to enter or leave.

Hmmm. Interesting. Not quite the type of storyline I had in mind, but definitely interesting. I'll think on it.

 

[Sayci]

That's a pretty interesting idea. Some of the romance could be in that the girl can't see the guy because he was out of town when it began so they can just write letters and he gets to hear about her while she's sick or something like that.

 

[Kitangel]

If that is something like the storyline... even if it isn't... I have two characters in mind that I want to create. Would two be ok?

Of course! You can have as many characters as you'd like!

So, one idea we have for the story line is as follows:
A small country village has a sickness that begins to overtake it, thus resulting in the village being quarentined; no one leaves, and no one comes.

It's a bit general, but it could be interesting. If we started before the village has the sickness outbreak, then we could build up our characters and develope a foundation...

Any other ideas? I've always liked how Jane Austen's novels show the differences between high society and low society. Anyways, we still need some more brainstorming...

Um. Lets see....

How about .... oh gosh, the plot really doesn't need to be THAT complicated, just something like "There's a new Royal family in the neighbourhood" or something would do. Its going to unfold itself in the end anyway.

Good point Kitangel, let's just decide on a basic city and general plot. Then if it evolves into a plague or something like that we'll run with it.

Yup. Well, I've chipped in my two cents. I'm going to create a low-born lad and an upper class lady. But, of course, after the plot and where and when has been arranged.

Okay, I see.
Well, where is going to be some place in England. Do we want to roll with a larger city like London or Bath, or should we make up our own country town?

 

[Kitangel]

make up our own country town - it sounds more interesting. we can place buildings where we want, etc, etc.

 

[Sayci]

Yeah, sounds good!

I think we should start with a simple plot - maybe a death of a well-known person in the town? Maybe there's a gang of thugs going around? Maybe it could start with a wedding?
