  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know all of you are praying, but here is one more thing. Our city of about 40,000 is housing refugees. I am on the volunteer list with United Way and received a call a little while ago asking for volunteer standbys to be ready for a call in the middle of the night for possibly 13 more busses of people coming in...300 to 400 people. There are so many needs as the people need places to stay, as well as all kinds of supplies, since they have nothing. The churches are opening their doors and their hearts. Please pray that the needs will be met and that many would come to know the Savior through the love of God's people here in Conway.

Yes..praying..my heart gets so overwhelmed watching the tv...so many issues....so many...
But I am proud of so many who are reaching out and helping...with open hearts and homes and pocketbooks/wallets.
Praying many will come to the Lord over this...I know there was alot of practiced withcraft and voodoo in that area...but I also know there where lots of Christians.

My heart was warmed by one lady 105 yrs old in a wheelchair, being taken care of by her nurse and her nurse's 5 yr old granddaughter, leaving the Superdome, giving praise to God for taking care of her.

We have busses of refugees that have come in tonight being taken care of at a local christian camp. Our church is providing volunteer workers to feed and clothe and try to meet needs as they come up. Most of the ones coming in have dysentery and are dehydrated. Please pray that God would protect the workers from sickness as they take care of the needy. This stuff is highly contagious.
You people are are so precious to pray. Thanks.

I worked at the United Way this afternoon answering phones. It is an understatement to say I didn't know what I was doing. We are flooded with calls from people wanting to help. Please pray for coordination of volunteers, services, and refugees. I know the process of getting in the system, going through the process of being documented, having to go here and there to have their needs met, is a frustration for people just needing the basic necessities. Agencies are trying very hard to get people's needs taken care of, but coordinating all this isn't easy when it is all very new and everything changes from day to day. Helpers sometimes don't understand that they cannot just show up at a shelter with food or supplies or whatever, but that it all needs to be done in an orderly way, and all under the authority of different govt. agencies. :groupray: Thanks! That truly is inspiring! It reminds me of Job. I'll pray that God will bless that woman, just as he did Job.

I really don't do very much ladies. Just go in every other day or so to answer the constantly ringing phones. They just don't stop ringing as people want to give time, money, supplies, clothes, jobs, meals, rooms in their homes, medical care, and on and on the list goes. It seems like everyone wants to touch a family in a personal way. Trying to organize and coordinate that is a major undertaking and takes so much from so many. The refugees are so grateful for the most part. :) The office is absolutely crazy all the time with people coming and going and asking questions that we always have to find some who knows to get the answers from. I only know a few people by name and what they do. It changes from day to day. If I wasn't looney toons before, from being in this nest, I will be from this experience. :D
The church where my daughter works is collecting things for the church camp where about 200 people are staying. Among the constantly needed supplies are underwear of all sizes. My daughters office happens to be the dumping place for anything that comes into the office that no one can find a spot for. So guess where all the underwear ends up? :D

Hello,
Yes, (with exception of "old age") - walked in similar moccasins, for a few journeys. What a trip.
Praise Jesus , & a few of his helpers, that we can continue thriving... And yes, people are in need of *inspiration*

Blessings to you, 'Motherofpromise'
