  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I've looked at it..... Our local library has one available and I keep tossing the idea back and forth.....

I know MacArthur is Calvinist but he's also dispensational and premill. I have no problem with this but he simply does not do a very good job of presenting the other side of the arguments..... (Don't get me wrong. I have great respect for MacArthur)

Thanks for the recommendation though

I am a mil and have a Mac Arthur bible

But I use an Arminian KJV for most of my study .
WHY?

The entire bible teaches predestination and election, it teaches limited atonement and irresistible grace , that is where Augustine and Luther and Calvin found it, we can too.

How 'Reformed' is the MarArthur Bible? I know he's a calvinist but also a leaky dispensationalist as wel. As for the KJV, it was always my understanding that all the translators were calvinists, even King James himself. I don't think it's been tainted by arminian theology at all.

I ventured to the BIble Bookstore today.

They did not have it in stock but I ordered the Reformed Study Bible (NKJV). Previously known as the Geneva Bible.

I have many others already including the NIV Study Bible.
I had a message on my anwering machine when I got home yesterday from the book store.
They said the Bible I ordered was OUT OF STOCK.

Headed to Amazon to find one unless someone has another idea.
Thanks in advance.

Are these the same Bible?

Both have the same basic description:

The first Geneva Bible opened the pages of Scripture for all readers and provided helpful notes to assist in the understanding of its central message. The Reformation Study Bible, under the editorial leadership of reformed scholars such as R.C. Sproul and J.I. Packer, offers a modern restatement of Reformation truth for the broad evangelical community. A wonderful resource for anyone who desires to understand the impact the powerful truths of the Reformation have had on today's church. Available in the New King James Version.

The first Geneva Bible opened the pages of Scripture to readers in the vernacular of the day and provided helpful notes to assist the laity in understanding its message. The New Geneva Study Bible, under the editorial leadership of reformed scholars such as R.C. Sproul and J.I. Packer, offers a modern restatement of Reformation truth.
