  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you mean NKJV? The Geneva is in NKJ. There is also a bible called The Spirit of the Reformation Study Bible. It's in NIV. It's a great resource as it includes other Reformed documents as well.
I have the New Geneva Study Bible in NKJV, I was wondering if there was one in the MKJV.

I have the MKJV avaliable on E-sword along with the Original Geneva Bible, I would like to get a reformed Study bible in the MKJV in printed form. I didn't know if there is one out there or not.

Here is the MKJV Online: http://www.mkjvonline.com/

I think the NIV has the 'Spirit of the Reformation' Bible. I'd never buy it, it's an NIV but the notes are probably well done. I own the Reformation/New Geneva Study Bible and use the notes all the time. The NIV verison, I'm told, has ref to the WCF.

The NIV Spirit of the Reformation Study Bible is very well done. Regardless of what some might say about the NIV text it works very well with the Reformed notes. The notes also do a good job at pointing out areas where the NIV translation may be weak.

The theological articles are a must for anyone seeking to Scripturally defend Reformed Theology. The creeds and confessions are also included and referenced in the notes throughout the text.

ditto! I had never heard of the NIV Spirit of the Reformation Bible before... I am a study bible junkie, so I will have to try and get that one too.... you see, it all started with a pocket New Testament, then... I moved to the harder stuff... a Gideon... before I knew it, I was in over my head, memorizing Scripture, reading the Bible daily... I couldn't stop myself..... :)

You may be interested to know that the regular NIV Study Bible has some distinct Reformed tones in the notes. Look up John 6:37,44 and you'll see what I mean.

If you don't like the NIV then try the NASB Study Bible. Same notes different translation. Unfortunately the NASB edition has not been updated as often. It's a pity....

FYI:
The Life Application Bibles, while very good, are not Reformed.

I've looked at it..... Our local library has one available and I keep tossing the idea back and forth.....

I know MacArthur is Calvinist but he's also dispensational and premill. I have no problem with this but he simply does not do a very good job of presenting the other side of the arguments..... (Don't get me wrong. I have great respect for MacArthur)

Thanks for the recommendation though

I think you'll find this Bible a good in between Bible, MacArthur isn't a strict dispey and does include some Reformed theology in his work. He's what we classic dispey call, leaky....;)
Thanks.

Maybe I'll consider paying the Library a visit prior to my next book study.

Any opinions on the Nelson Study Bible?

IMO, Nelson Bibles fall apart...the binding is weak, etc.
