I'm aware of that passage in Galatians and that causes me to lean toward Covenant Theology. The only unresolved issue I have is, if the modern-day state of Israel is not the Israel of the Bible (and I understand why people say it's not), then where in the Bible does it indicate that a counterfeit state of Israel will be set up? I don't think it does. If it doesn't state anything about it, how are we supposed to know whether or not the modern-day state of Israel is ordained by God?If someone is consistently applying covenant theology to all of scripture than one would realize there is no future piece of land set aside for a physical Israel. Jesus is the True Israel. We are grafted into Him (Gal. 3 the seed is Christ) and have all the heavenly benefits now, and future benefits to come. This doesn't exclude the incoming of converts from ethnic Israel in the future it only points out that we are 'heirs according to the promise' if we are in Christ, the True Israel of God.
Yours in the Lord,
jm
I do agree that there are going to be converts from ethnic Israel alone that will be heirs to the promise. I don't give any preferential treatment to ethnic Jews/ethnic Israel over spiritual Jews/spiritual Israel. We believers, no matter the ethnicity, are all heirs to that promise now.
