I've noticed the series available at Christianbook.com awhile back. Should be an awesome series, but too pricey for me. Maybe when or if they go on sale (huge savings) I can get a taste. I ordered a few brand new volumes from the "Expositor's Bible Commentary" series the other day, for about $8 a volume...that's about 80% off retail.

Frank Gaebelein was Arno Gaebelein's son (if I remember correctly). He became A believer under the preaching and teaching of F.C. Jennings of Gospel Hall fame. Arno was an important person in the early days of Dispensationalism and Fundamentalism.

One guess was that notes done for the Expositors Commentary on Thessalonians, Revelation and Genesis are Dispy. Another said Premilliennalism and Dispensationalism specifically are scattered throughout the set. I would say, from the remarks on different forums I recently read, it is not Reformed. It would be conservative Evangelical with a Dispy Premil bent to it.

Who are the contributors? I've also googled up threads that mentioned "new" vs. "old" and that might change the content as well.

I got them in the mail today.

One of the consulting editors for the Old Testament is Dr. Bruce K. Waltke, a professor of Old Testament at Reformed Theological Seminary

One of the consulting editors for the New Testament is the late Dr. James Montgomery Boice pastor of Tenth Presbyterian Church Philadelphia, PA

Vol 1 has a slew of contributors/articles, too many to list. A few names I recognize are Carl Henry, F.F. Bruce, and Bruce Metzger.

Vol 2 contributors John H. Sailhamer, Walter C. Kaiser Jr., R. Laird Harris, Ronald B. Allen.

Vol 4 contributors R.D. Patterson, Hermann J. Austel, J. Barton Payne, Edwin Yamauchi, F.B. Huey Jr. Elmer B Smick

Vol 9 contributors Merrill C. Tenney, Richard N. Longenecker

Vol 10 contributors Everett F. Harrison, W. Harold Mare, Murray J. Harris. James M. Boice

Vol 11 contributors A. Skevington Wookd, Homer A. Kent Jr., Curtis Vaughan, Robert L. Thomas, Ralph Earle, D. Edmond Hiebert, Arthur A. Ruppreeht

I have no clue about most of the contributors, I know James M. Boice is Reformed. I believe D.A. Carson is a contributor for one of the volumes as well.
