CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It's amazing what total solitude can do for a person. I'm around people all day at work. Along with all the "noise" of life. I'm always thankful when I'm home all by myself. Then I know it's quiet and calm and the Lord is there. He works on placing spiritual bandaids on the hurts of the day and works on restoring me. He then works on any correction needed in my life and teaching me new things from the days events.

My poppy was Scots. I'd listen to him tell the same stories over & over just so I could listen to his accent.

Most of us over here can't tell the difference.
I once "insulted" a Scotsman by calling him Irish
. He was a guy that came around supplying our First Aid equipment. I used up some stuff and called the office and some lady answered and I said something about having "that Irish guy come over" and she said coldly: "He's not Irish, he's Scottish".

Ye-ouch! Mind you, if you know your history at all Irish raiders settled the west coast of Scotland & Irish gaelic & Scots gaelic are close enough they can understand each other, unlike Welsh...

Typica american ignorance, y'all sorta just get lumped together, but we like the accent-it makes people sound more educated.
Well, except that cockney sort like in My Fair Lady, it don't sound educated, it just sounds cool

A lot of Aussies sound like cockneys - which stands to reason; that's who the Brits transported - along with the Irish, the Scots & the Welsh. Just like in the wars they tried exterminating us all in the heaviest fighting. (History condensed into a nutshell.)

As colonists we were expendable, fodder for the great British empire & if you were Scots, Irish or Welsh you were definitely a second class citizen. In Scotland & Wales they did horrible things to kiddies who spoke their native tongue (which wasn't English) in school; a policy that nearly exterminated 2 languages.

Hm. It gets me hot under the collar when our Aboriginals complain about what's been done to them. They got a mere 200 years; the S, I, W got centuraries of it.
