Greetings, Red Fox!

I understand you don't wish to talk about the spirituality of your ancestors, but I'm curious if you think that information should be historically preserved. Do you personally have objections to documenting the myths, legends, and practices for the historical record even if you don't believe them?

If you're willing to discuss it, I'm also curious about what Christianity is like for you. Is it just like mainstream Christianity or are there specific Native American influences?

Greetings, Red Fox!

O'siyo awitch. O'siyo, pronounced O-C-O, means hello in Cherokee. Welcome to my Talking Circle.

I understand you don't wish to talk about the spirituality of your ancestors, but I'm curious if you think that information should be historically preserved.

Yes, I believe it should be preserved, but it is not my place to do so.

Do you personally have objections to documenting the myths, legends, and practices for the historical record even if you don't believe them?

There are quite a few of my people, particularly the elders, who preserve the traditional ways and the spirituality of our ancestors.

If you're willing to discuss it, I'm also curious about what Christianity is like for you. Is it just like mainstream Christianity or are there specific Native American influences?

I'm not willing to discuss the spirituality of our ancestors. However, I'm willing to discuss my experiences as a Native American Christian, but not at this particular time. It's late and I don't have the necessary time to discuss my experiences right now. I'll discuss it further some time tomorrow.

I'm very skeptical of any story told about Native Americans or the depiction of any native oriented story from someone who isn't Native American themselves. I would want to know if the sources they were using were actual NDN sources. Otherwise, I won't give the story any credence, because I can't trust the source.

Perhaps history will in fact repeat itself here in America and it will once again be over ran by illegal immigrants, only from Mexico this time.

Uh, Mexico has a population of less than 120 million whereas our population is about 320 million. However, it is undoubtedly true our country is becoming less 'white' and eventually Caucasians will be in the minority. Our society will become multi-cultural and personally I consider that to be a good thing. The truth is that all of this illegal immigrants, far from depleting our resources are keeping programs like Social Security afloat, because they pay into the system but can't take money out. Mind you, I'm not supporting illegal immigration, but I do support immigration. We are going to need it, especially as us Baby Boomers begin to retire and the labor participation rate declines. Pretty soon we are going to need more workers.
