  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This may be an unusual question, but feel appropiate in this forum, as some of you may know the answer.

I have no idea as to why in most pictures that I have taken.....my eyes come up red  lol

Mind you, I can have picture taken at any time of the day or night, alone or in a group and I am the one with red eyes :|

Does anyone know why this happens? I don't think it would have anything to do with the color of them (hazel).

Any tips appreciated & God bless

I don`t know the in`s and out`s of it but basically because the flash is on camera and therefore when the picture is taken you are looking vertully into the flash, this means that when the flash goes off your iris is still wide open and the full force of the flash goes streight in, the red you see in the photo`s is the reflection of the light in the retina at the back of the eye (the retina being very rich in blood) hence the 'red.' To avoid this there are several methods used, most compacts will have a mode when using flash that reduces red eye by sending a few bursts of the flash previous to the main shot, so as to shrink the retina, hence less light gets through.
On SLR`s the flash is not in the direct line of sight and so has less of an impact anyway but a lot of people bounc`e their flash (not for the purpose of reducing red eye but it does have that effect because the light is not going streight into the iris and again that means less light getting to the rettina)............................not sure how well I have explained that ;) .

Tips anyone?
If the camera uses a red-eye reduction feature, a "preview" light comes on to adjust your eyes to the light prior to the flash. The picture taker should be as close to you as possible using a wide angle setting on the lens and you should look directly at the red-eye reduction preview light

Here are two pictures I took of my cat, which are notorious for re-eye problems. Note the difference in the close-up using the tips I gave

Thank you so much. The problem is that it doesn't matter who takes the pic, different cameras etc...most of the time I come up with red eyes. Anyway, not that I have my picture taken often as I dislike it. Best solution is to keep my eyes closed everytime LOL ^_^
