Just heard about this on a channel I follow on Youtube but also found an online article.

Record cold coming to ‘almost entire USA’ – Low temperature records set to be SHATTERED


Climatologist Dr. Roger Pielke Sr. announced: 'I cannot recall last time I have seen such a cold anomaly forecast across almost entire USA.'

Cold Records are going to be SHATTERED! - “By the end of NEXT week, some states will be running 36 F BELOW NORMAL."

This cold air mass is first going to arrive in Alaska this upcoming weekend with some spots in that state plunging to 40 degrees below zero and way below normal for early December. After that, the cold air dives into the western US during the first half of next week and then it’ll likely blast into the eastern US late next week.​

This has something to do with 'solar minimum' which means that basically the sun is 'inactive' ie no solar flares.

Many believe the 'resources' that we are experiencing 'global warning' when in fact it may just be the opposite.

So are you prepared? These extreme predicted will be much different than what is normally expected especially in the lower southern states.

Have you filled up your fuel tank? Propane? _Put in extra firewood? Some are saying with this kind of cold a lot more than heating can be affected, power lines may go out especially because our infrastructure is old. Food sources may be scarce, Water------------there may be many cracked water lines because of the below zero temperature.

Best to be safe rather than sorry.

Stock up now, food, water, heat, and make sure your friends and loved ones, especially the elderly are taken care of.

With winter approaching, it's no surprise ignorant posts about climate change will pop up. Yes, winter is cold and with climate change seasons become more extreme. Even if true, the trend has clearly moved in the positive direction.

We can expect a warmer winter in the south and a colder winter in some northern midwestern states. Nonetheless, the average temperatures this winter will be a warmer winter.

It appears the source you provided points to colder temperatures across the entire United States. It's a poor weather prediction mixed with pseudoscience regarding climate.

The part you quoted is the only explanation you need for why this is going to be a cold winter, or did you miss the whole part of this being artic weather coming down south, this isn't the US suddenly getting colder, this sounds like what happened a half dozen years ago when the jet stream dropped suddenly far south dragging arctic temperatures and weather....you know, weather that doesn't belong in one place being pulled elsewhere, this happens when things like the jet stream are disrupted. While the US will have this cold front the rest of the world will be having abnormally warm weather hint it's in the title, "ARCTIC FRONT." don't post things if your own post debunks what your pushing.

Back in the fifties (when we had -65*F in northern Minnesota) there was genuine worry about another Ice age starting. From Wiki:

"Concerns that a new ice age was approaching was revived in the 1950s. During the Cold War there were concerns by Harry Wexler that setting off atom bombs could be hastening a new ice age from a nuclear winter scenario."

well there were some ideas, but they were never really taken serious by alot of scientists, heck even the idea of a nuclear winter is looking to not be real.

From the look of the map, we should expect KY, TN, and AL to be 30+ degrees colder than normal by December 9.

Chattanooga averages 52 in December. So if high temperatures are around 20 degrees F by the end of next week, we'll know this is valid.

Weather.com's 10 day forecast has nothing lower than 39 degrees (as of this moment).

For a while, 2010 was the hottest year on record globally. But then it got overtopped by 2014. And 2014 was beaten again by 2015. That's a weird thing to say when we just had the polar vortex shift three winters ago...? I'm looking at the real forecasts for different areas, and the temperatures don't look nearly as bad as those were.
