  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Of course, the best thing to do is take a class by a professor who knows Greek.

But:

Interactive Learning Software has both the Greek and Hebrew programs and those would be my next best suggestion. The Greek program has the creative name of "Greek Tutor." I have both of them and they are really great. It has multiple exercises and it pronounces the words and letters for you too (one of the most important and helpful tools). You can be able to work through a greek passage in about a month or less, depending on how fast you get it and how much time you put into it. You should come out with a Greek II level of knowledge.

I will look online to see what else there is. The one posted by dellla looks pretty good.

I started with Teach Yourself New Testament Greek by D.F. Hudson and a few beginners Greek NT.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0844237892/ref=nosim/ultimyourulti-20

Then I proceed to intermediate and advanced New Testament Greek. Make sure you have a good New Testament Greek lexicon as companion. The best available NT Greek lexicon in the market are:

1. A Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament and Other Early Christian Literature by Walter Bauer, Frederick William Danker (Editor)

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0226039331/ref=nosim/ultimyourulti-20

2. Thayer's Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament: Coded with Strong's Concordance Numbers by Joseph Thayer

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1565632095/ref=nosim/ultimyourulti-20

As a beginner, you need to familiarize yourself with Greek cases and declensions e.g. nominative, genitive, accusative, etc.

I hope this will help.
