  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I found the Madvillain cd to be anti-climatic. It starts off so good, but quickly becomes repetitive drivel that sounds like they spent 3 minutes cooking up.

This isn't a CD, but I just bought a ticket to see Sufjan Stevens and Laura Viers next monthi n cleveland.

You could be right; I haven't listened to it much yet, and most of the standouts for me so far have been near the beginning ("Accordion" especially, and "Raid").

Sweet; I'm seeing him next month in Newport, KY. Speaking of which, here's a video for one of his shows if you or anyone else is interested:

Really? I think Madvillainy is great. I only bought three rap albums last year (Madvillain, Kanye West, Dizzee Rascal), and I thought all three were pretty good. I can see how some of the songs could be considered a little repetitive, but I would hardly call the whole album anti-climatic.

My recent purchases/acquisitions:

Comets On Fire - Blue Cathedral
Califone - Heron King Blues
Annie - Anniemal (has been growing on me)
The Hold Steady - Seperation Sunday
Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs
Out Hud - Let Us Never Speak Of It Again
Stephen Malkmus - Face The Truth
Thunderbirds Are Now! - Justamustache
Ween - Shinola Vol. 1
White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan
Cake - Prolonging The Magic
Devendra Banhart - Cripple Crow

I might be going to that sufjan show. I should try to meet you there. I don't have the CD yet though, I should probably find a good place to sample it before the concert.
