I know threads like this have been made in the past, but it's always good for a fresh one to be made every now and then.

Why did you originally join CF?

Why are you active here? What brings you back?

Does CF fulfill what you are hoping to get out of being here?

Your answers can be about CF in general or about Singles specifically. Just curious about everyone's thoughts.

I joined at a time when I was unsure about religion and christianity and wanted to learn more about the issue.

Stayed mostly for the debates and the lulz.

Great thread idea!

Why did you originally join CF?
Honestly, the biggest reason why I joined CF was because I was sick of all the support for sinful things on the secular site that was my "online home" at the time. I searched for "Christian Forums" hoping to find a Christian site because there wouldn't be such support there. I didn't realize there would be Christians who are okay with those things, but it's still definitely better since there are actually people who agree with me here, plus I'm allowed to have an opinion on CF.

Why are you active here? What brings you back?
I like having fellowship with other Christians and it's so nice to be able to talk about my faith. Plus there are a lot of nice people here and I love talking with my friends and sharing my work!

Does CF fulfill what you are hoping to get out of being here?
Pretty much. Of course there have been a few times when things happened to make me unhappy, but that can happen anywhere. Overall I'm quite happy here; I've made new friends, learned a lot about Christianity, and have become closer to God and more prayerful!

At first I spent time all over the forums, but now I'm mostly spending time here in Singles (as well as some time in OBOB and once in a while other areas). I've had a few problems with the other areas so I probably won't post much in them anymore.

Originally I came to CF because of a neighbor's recommendation to check out the net about religious matters and found this site.

I was intrigued by some of the rooms/forum sections and wanted to understand some people's real position.

What keeps me coming back? It sure is not the general nasty people. I enjoy talking about the Bible and what it says. I do have a genuine concern for people's souls.

I have no real hope of developing any real world friends here. It could happen though.

I was (and still am) a very new believer at the time. I wanted more fellowship online with other believers. I think what draws me into C.F. is how it's a relatively 'clean' and my own little place where I can chat freely about Jesus. Though I do talk about him in real life. It was just a nice change as I was active in a different forum before which was quite worldly.
I also enjoy the Advice forum and Singles forum. They're the most active in my opinion (at least the ones I 'watch') :)

Oh and I pretty much stumbled onto this site in the beginning. I believe I was searching up for 'Christian chat/fellowship online or Christian Forums' and low and behold..lol. literally the perfect name for this site. Anyone can find it easily I think.

I was so engrossed in mobile gaming, simulation games ever since I was like 18, i always had something...whether it was farmville, all other ville type games, and most recent clash of clans, but God dealt with me about that since it was starting to get to be an addiction, i've been game free for a year and a half now lol and have no desire to go back. I also wanted to pray more and stay connected with believers, and with my work sched, I had to miss church a lot. So was browsing internet to find a good christian forum site and found this one. And for some reason, it just seems harder to get connected to people, most in my circle are busy to hang out anymore. So CF is a good place to somehow "socialize" in a safe environment lols. And being that my work is high stressed, CF somehow is a stress relief for me, i enjoy reading peoples posts and replies, and best part is knowing that these same people love God. And pretty cool that i get to meet most of them in Heaven one day if I never get to meet them offline.

I was fifteen when I joined CF, and while I know what my age was and the specific date, I have zero recollection of that actual day I joined and why I even did so. For all I know I posted a hundred times that day. I have no idea. I've been conversing on internet forums since I was twelve, and after that first forum experience, which lasted until I was maybe 13 1/2, I went on a kind of 'join all the internet forums' spree. Lol...Not the safest thing I've ever done, but hey...I'm alive. I lived to tell the tale. CF has a lot of problems, but I guess I still stick around and post because I've basically grown up on this site. It's has played a fairly significant role in my life for many years...probably because I'm not very good at socializing 'in person' and doing so online is less stressful. Now that I'm in my late twenties I obviously can socialize much better, but it's still difficult at times and I guess for those reasons I find myself back on CF.

I can only say I probably chose CF because it is supposedly Christian. Because I was a teenager when I joined I immediately headed to the Teen section and spent 99% of my time there. I never made any significant friends in Teens as I have here in Singles, however, I can assure you I was just as salty as I am now, it was just a lot more immature then. :D

As for Singles, to put it simply, I grew too old for Teens and needed to move elsewhere on CF. I think I dabbled in some non-specific type sections and posted a little on the Baptist community for a while, but then I decided to move in to Singles. I think I was twenty or twenty-one. I was a lurker for the first couple of years or so, posting only here and there. Then in January of 2012 I logged on after a few months of absence and it was like switch had been flipped in my personality. I just decided to stop lurking and be me. So I did.

And behold, Miss Spaulding emerged from the shadows.

The end.

to help people, and get better in how God has me relating in love

Does CF fulfill what you are hoping to get out of being here?
God fulfills, however He pleases. But I would say we have enough of a good setup, here. But what God does is what matters.

Why did you originally join CF?
For two reasons.

1) To discover how other Christians understood the revelation of Jesus Christ in the scripture

2) To see if there were any answers to some niggling issues, that is, issues in the Genesis account.
Why are you active here?
To try and encourage people to really focus on the death and resurrection of the Christ.

The death and resurrection of the Christ is the first doctrine, the foundation of Christianity.
What brings you back?
Helping people to develop a strong trust in Jesus, and to maintain that focus on Jesus. Rather than being occupied in trivial Christian pursuits, controversial questions, and debatable doctrines.
Does CF fulfill what you are hoping to get out of being here?
I gave up on solving the riddles of the Genesis account, so no on that point.

As a place to promote the Gospel, on this point, yes.

Why did you originally join CF?
I joined a little over ten years ago and to be honest, I came to CF because I was riding out a temporary IP ban from another site. I never intended on making CF my permanent online home. But after posting in Young Adults (and later, Singles and Spirit-Filled/Charismatic) and making my own customized avatar complete with wings, weapon etc etc, I began falling in love with CF. In those days, I was quick with the debate and aired my political beliefs (many of which have changed since then) and didn't care who I offended. I still don't, but I am much more tame than I used to be.

Why are you active here? What brings you back?
I'm not. I post every now and then, but I'm not as active as I used to be. What brings me back? I have a history here, though much has changed and many of the originals that used to be here in this section are long gone because they have spouses and kids and stuff.

Does CF fulfill what you are hoping to get out of being here?
I guess. I don't expect much more from this place other than being a place to get my thoughts out from time to time.

*squints over spectacles*, dear me, have I really been here for nearly 7 years?

Originally I was young and friendless and hoped to find friends with similar beliefs here on CF. I do think that I found what I came for; I got to know some wonderful people and I still thank God for that, though I lost contact with many of them and haven't really kept in contact with the rest very much unfortunately. I haven't always been a good friend, and I have gone through a lot of changes over the years too, especially this last year up until now, so I might not fit in the best anymore. It's been a while since I was last active. What brings me back? I guess hopes of reconnecting with people again or at the very least checking up on others and seeing how they are doing.

Why did you originally join CF?

~ Because I wanted Christian fellowship. I was in a position where I wasn't going to any church and I had no friends outside of the computer realm. The interwebs was my escape from isolation and loneliness.

Why are you active here? What brings you back?

~Honestly...I have no idea. I'm not really Christian anymore...though I do believe God is out there somewhere.
I still consider some of the regulars here to be my friends...and I wanna stay in contact. Y'all have always been there for me, even when I wasn't...I try to, but not always...makes me sort of a bad friend, eh? :sorry:

Does CF fulfill what you are hoping to get out of being here?

~ Uh...maybe? I mean, I've reconnected with some old friends...even exchanged phone numbers and FB info...so I see that as fulfilling.

I originally joined CF because I was questioning things about God and Christianity was new to me as an adult (Having left it in my early teens) I have partaken in forums before to the point I've built friends and met up/went away on a retreat. So it was natural for me to look for a Christian forum, to discuss and have fellowship. Though there isn't really an active UK Christian forum

Am active here because I enjoy it, also sometimes it fun when you can be yourself and people don't take you too seriously. Though there have been some low point and argument, and I've probably said things I didn't mean or annoyed people (Sorry) It's mostly been good.

Yes, i think CF does fulfil what I was hoping to get out of being here, though I recognised that I am probably part of the group, but not of it, which is cool - i think its mostly a culturally thing with how I can be viewed.

This is part of why I stay. We are pretty much free to say whatever, I think, if we stay with what the Bible says and are considerate of others.

There is a Net place where there is essentially no moderation, but Christians post there. This can be good; anyone is free to say what they really see fit to say; but I then am totally free to answer howsoever I see fit, but prayerfully, to various non-Christian and Christian people.

And no matter how anyone else might trash and twist and misrepresent what I offer, Isaiah 55:11 says God's word will not return to Him void. To me, this means that God is able to use anything He has me offer, no matter how impossible certain people might act about what I say. Even if someone is very Satanic, God is able to use what I offer to help that person someday . . . or even right then.

Even if certain ones are very disrespectful and making what I say seem to mean something else, God can use what He has me say. And we always have the readers who are visiting and not sharing; He can use our stuff to help the ones who are just reading, plus others who are honorable.

Even so, I do find it better here with a certain amount of moderation. Here, I would say, we do not have heavy-handed moderation like I have discovered in certain places - - where everyone is totally conformed to something or everyone is all-out goody-goody two-shoes and proper :)

The Net can be a mission field, while we grow as family with people we personally know in Jesus.

niggling issues, that is, issues in the Genesis account.

riddles of the Genesis account,
I could be off-topic by going into this in detail, here. But I will offer what has helped me, in general.

First, in general, I find it is wise, in reading God's word, not to right away think about problems about what we read, but get how God uses something with His love meaning. And I think you now understand this is what God wants us to do, here in Christian Forums.

Even so . . . I offer that I get how people have issues. One thing I have discovered is that two compared scriptures can be bringing out different aspects of a same thing. And there are people with a motive, who keep bringing up issues and problems.

If two qualified and expert people talked with you about computers, you might hear some very different things which might not seem to fit together very well.

And, like I say, beware of the agendas of people who bring up issues, and claim to have found contradictions > their character has a lot to do with what they are capable of seeing and understanding, and they have . . . motives > God's word helps to bring out the real motives of people > Hebrews 4:12. First, we answer to God.

See how much they are helping you first to please God and submit to how He rules us in His very own peace; and see how much they are about this :)

I was lonely, isolated and depressed at the time and was looking for somewhere online where I could ask for prayers and hang out with fellow Christians. I typed in "christian forum" and this was the first result, lol.

I stay cause I have no friends where I live and I like to joke around and make myself laugh, and apparently people here like my humour and art, so that's a bonus. I also stay cause I learn a lot about stuff like theology, American politics and life.

I will leave CF once I get a girlfriend, so I expect to be here for life.

Why did you originally join CF?
I googled "Christian Forums" then ended up reading posts where people were asking advice I think, I read for hours then joined the next day.

Why are you active here? What brings you back?
Ultimately, fellowship with others. As well as an unconscious habit.
I'm pretty busy right now, so I temporarily deactivated my Facebook to get rid of some distractions, and I've considered taking a break from here but instead I've stayed and have just been spending less time online.

Does CF fulfill what you are hoping to get out of being here?
Yep.

And as far as CF singles section goes, the main reason I've ever posted here was because that's where the most activity is going on on the forum. And I have looked for other Christian forums, but I haven't found any that were as active or didn't creep me out in some way. I like that there are a variety of viewpoints on this forum.
