:wave:Welcome to CF! There's something for everyone here. It's an amazing, complex place.

*smiles* If you believe that God became man, and that He died for us to wash us clean from sin, and that because of this we can have fellowship and growth in Him... then you are Christian. It's not a matter of feeling. Feelings come and go. Feelings and experiences can be influenced by so much -- what's going on in our school, our work, our families, our health, even how much sleep we're getting. The Truth remains, however. It is a solid foundation that you can rely on no matter what you are going through, or what doubts you have.

Doubts are a normal part of life. They can help strengthen your faith. God will draw you to Him, and give you strength to be obedient and loving and joyous. C.S. Lewis wrote about it in his book "Surprised by Joy," which tells of his doubts and struggles as he sought happiness in life.

I hope that you find fellowship on this board. If you want to learn more, I'd suggest posting in "Questions by Non-Christians". Your choice of "Other" for belief means you cannot post in the Christian section. If you believe that is in error, you should contact a mod and request an icon change.

Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions, or just want to talk.

Something that helped me a LOT when I joined was to go to my Control Panel at the top of the page, and go to Edit Options. About three screens down you'll see some options to add titles and URLs for the "Custom Navbar". As you find forums on CF that you want to participate in, put their URL as one of your custom navbar URLs. That way, it will show up on the top of your screen each time you visit, and will act as a quick shortcut to the forums you visit the most.

I look forward to getting to know you as you post in the community!

It's all about Jesus, and his shed blood, it has nothing to do with us, except opening the door to our heart and accepting his gift of eternal life. Jesus is the way, and the only way.

May the Lord Bless you While you are here, There are many loving and kind people that are here to share.

Welcome,

Troy

I didn't experience true peace and "fullness" until I began to study His word.

I always believed in Jesus and what he did for us, but honestly my walk with Christ didn't begin until I began to actively seek to have a relationship with Him.

See if you can find a study group at your church or in your community. The more you learn what His word really means in your life..the more you crave to know Him. At least, that's how it is for me.

In Christ,
TAL

A good question. I never paid attention to icons.

I used to feel that way too. I used to have doubts. And I don't really know exactly when it changed, but it did. It just took a lot ot thinking about God (meditating), experience (answered prayers) and Bible Study.

I find that when I study the Bible I feel excited (not just read it, it puts me to sleep to just read it, but to actually study and discover the spiritual truths.) But it's not easy to get into it (it's great after you are able to get into it), and I have a computer program that helps me (I don't know what I would do without it.) I remember using concordance (book) to find verses, but I didn't have a chance with that because I would feel sleepy after 5 minutes of doing that.

Another thing that refreshes my faith is talking to non-christians. It's like remembering your dating days (if you are married) and reflecting on them. All those beginners' questions make you think back to that time when it was all fresh and new and refreshing. And defending your faith to somebody just simply makes you feel your faith once again.

Welcome to CF!

I won't beat you up. I would like to know how you persued your relationship with your Lord? I know, sounds like a cliche, but in time you will grow in Christ and the things that seem so important to a young lady of you age, will seem worthless and the Holy Spirit guides you through you walk with the Lord. It is a jouney. You need to take those steps.

May God Bless that journey

I started reading the Bible alot more. my friends and I made a teen Bible study. every week we get together and we have a different lesson. It's kinda like you going to your on Bible study except this one is run by teens. We descuss everything because all of us are going threw the same things. At first there wer only like 3 or 4 of us now there is about 8 of us teens in it.
You asked how I persued GOD. I didn't. He kinda came after me. but now I'm persuing Him.

Ok, after you accepted Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and repented of your sins; did you ask for the Holy Spirit to come into your heart? This gives one the power of God to live a christian life.

Do you pray daily, read the Bible and surround yourself with christians life yourself. Also, find a real bible believing church (meaning they do practice what they preach).

Its not only a matter of ok I accept what Christ has done and then walk away. This is like saying "ok, my car can get me to work" but one never drives it there. Is this the case with you presently?

Jesus told Nicodemus, in John 3:3, that "unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.

What does it mean to be born again?

When Jesus was first starting His ministry, He told us what we must do, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe the gospel" (Mark 1:15). This is what we must do to be born again; repent and believe the gospel.

What does it mean to repent?

To have a change of mind which issues in regret for past sins and in change of conduct for the better. In order to repent, one would have to first acknowledge that they are a sinner. Admitting to being a sinner shows us our need for a Savior.

What is the gospel that must be believed?

That Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). The gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16).

Concerning salvation, Romans 10:9-10 tells us,

9) That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10) For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

In answer to your question, no, you are not supposed to feel a certain way.

True biblical faith is not about sentiment. Many people equate faith with feelings. Feelings are not faith. Because of our background in church, or some religious experiences which we have had, we may equate faith with the nostalgic and fond memories we attach to these things. But faith is deeper than that.

True faith in Jesus means that we stake our lives on Him. We commit ourselves to Him as our only hope for salvation. We give ourselves totally to Him, and burn our bridges behind us. Without trust, there is no faith. Without faith, there is no reception of grace. Without grace, there is no salvation.

Salvation has nothing to do with our feelings, nor with anything that we do. It has everything to do with Jesus and trusting Him to do what He said He will do for us.
