Don't pretend I have an honesty problem like some here do. I do believe in very real demons and angels.

Believe me, nobody's pretending.

I don't think we need to ask any more, your replies betray you.
At least you admit they exist.

See? No pretending necessary here.

So will you come out of the closet, and tell us plainly whether you actually believe in real angels and real demons and a real Jesus as God?

I'm skeptical. I hear many grandiose claims, but few actual facts.

An assertion ignorant about the topic does not make geometry that high school students understand invalid. Read and try to understand The ABC's of Distances. Parallax is geometry measured here using our clocks.

ALL measures in the solar system used for the all important base line of the trigometric measure involve time!
You have lost the argument for months with vague fantasies about time rather than actual evidence. Repeating them does not change anything - you have lost.

This fantasy looks to be that the length of a year (divide by 2 to get 6 months) measured by clocks here on Earth magically changes to make parallax measurements invalid. So last year was actually 100 years long or a million years or a billion years or a microsecond or a week or 3.14 days, dad :p ?

If Adam had a tail, or Noah, that would not mean he was a descendant of a monkey.
The ignorance of "descendant of a monkey" actually hurts my brain !
Common features between animals such as human being and apes is evidence of common decent. A coccyx indicates that human being and apes had a common ancestor who was not an human being, ape or monkey.

Then use it to show the distance to SN1987a.
You either still know nothing about stellar parallax or do not know what SN1987a was, dad. Stellar parallax is only useful for stars within the Milky Way, SN1987a was a supernovae outside of the Milky Way.

ETA: SN1987a was used in a different method of measuring cosmic distances: Light Echo Distance

Let us say that we indulged in a fantasy that in 2015 time ran twice as fast as in 2014 and ask what that would mean for a parallax measurement for a star. Say we use an atomic clock for accuracy.

At exactly noon on 1 January 2014 we take a measurement. We wait 6 months until we are on the other side of the Sun. We take another measurement. Our baseline is the diameter of the Earths orbit.

Time starts to go twice as fast. The clock ticks twice as fast. The Earth moves half as fast in its orbit. At exactly noon on 1 January 2015 we take a measurement. We wait 6 months until we are on the other side of the Sun. We take another measurement. Our baseline is the diameter of the Earth's orbit.

Anyone can see that the effects on the clock and orbit cancel out.

Anyone who knows about what happens as the Earth orbits can see that it would be easy to see that the Earth was in the wrong place in the orbit in this example. We would be in spring rather than summer in the northern hemisphere if there was no cancellation.

19 January 2017 dad: Calculate the lengths of the baseline for the 2 parallax measurements. What is the difference?

Indulging in thus fantasy also shows that the parallax measurements actually measure the distance to the stars. However we do not measure the distance once and then never more. We do this multiple times over intervals of many years using many instruments and get consistent results.

19 January 2017 dad: Why do multiple parallax distance measurements of long periods give similar results for a star?

No. Time is woven in with space. Wherever space is in our system, there is time. This is news?

We know that the lie of evilution does not have man coming directly from a monkey. Why pretend?

Nope. You assume time is out there to. If time was only here nothing cancels out.

What is worse is that dad thinks that physics behaved differently last year, the year before, the year before, etc. back to at least 1838 !
Stellar parallax

I don't even know what to say in response to this revelation. I mean, if yesterday worked differently than today at a fundamental level, then what is reality?

Whatever dad says it is at this very moment... nothing else can be trusted.
