My wife and I are heading to a PCA church in our area this week, as we are continuing our search for a home church. The question is, "what is the appropriate attire?" My background is from churches where khakis and jeans are acceptable and women can dress casually as well. But I didn't know what to expect (i.e. like Church of Christ where women are expected to wear dresses no matter what). Any info would be appreciated.....:)

The PCA Churches i've attended have been a mixed bag. Some people are dressed casual and others are dressed more formal. I have only been to a handful of PCA churches, but I think it will be ok no matter how you dress.

Thanks for the info... upon further review and research - it appears the church may not even be in existence any more. 3 months ago they had a website describing their church, times of worship, etc., however, now their site now redirects to a generic statewide Christian search engine. :( The search continues.....

Check the PCA directory. If it's still listed there, the church is probably still around. A lot of churches let their websites die for various reasons. Just because the website is gone, doesn't mean the church is.

PCA directory

As far as dress, I agree with Kenith. I've been to a couple PCA churches in two different states and several OPCs (which I've found to be very similar to PCAs). At all of these there's a mix of casual and more formal. Sometimes I wear jeans. But as always, each individual church can be different.

Listen fellas, I must tell you what fun it is to witness the camaraderie here! Reminds me of the times when I was raising 4 sons! Even your names trigger memories, like 'hired goon'! How funny! Of course it wasnt always funny but now all evoked memories are great! Thanks for all the lighthearted exchange of theology here! It still triggers searching the heart, soul and mind for more of His presence in a life! Does that sound wierd to the younger ones here?, or worse yet, strange?

Thanks brother! Dare I tell you its gonna get worse! Being two is small concerns to being 16-21! Then suddenly you will be smarter, wiser and a grand authority in his eyes! Remember what Mark Twain said about his not so smart father and how he was amazed at how smart he 'became' when he reached 21! lol, its so true! Something to look forward to if you hold out and hope!

y'all go'head on & get as 'wierd & strange' as ya want.
Ya sound like a sister to me.
My 2nd 4yr old is 16 now, & I can't remember him bein' this intolerable since he was 2!^_^

Nice tulip ya got there.
Take heart. If you let him live long enough (please restrain the urge to kill him) when he gets about 30 he will finally see that dad wasn't as dumb as he thought. I went through this with my children and it reminded me of how I acted when I was their age. It does get better. ;) :D

As an FYI (in case you haven't figured it out already) teenage boys are every bit as hormonally emotional as teenage girls. In many respects I think they're worse because they don't see it.

Oh, and at 24 there are times when my son is still pretty intolerable. Fortunately, he doesn't live with me anymore and his wife has to deal with it.

i don't know why people get so strung up about what they're going to wear to such and such a church, and what the people there wear and think is acceptable; i mean, who gives a dickens, really: wear what you think is comfortable and decent, and if they like or dislike you for the clothes you've got on, or they judge you on the basis of the clothes you've got on (provided you've actually got some on, of course! ;) ), then really, they've got serious problems. just my opinion, not that it counts for much.

Thanks for the info everyone....(it looks like some even had a little fun ;) ) Good news - I found the website and subsequently found the worship times. My wife will be heading to the PCA church on Sunday. We both fall under the Reformed Baptist beliefs; but no Baptist church in our area is reformed. From all of our research, the church we will attend this Sunday and one other one are the only reformed churches in our area. I'll keep you up all up-to-date and I may even ask "Not-so-quick" questions.....:D
