real names of apostles?

With names like Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, etc... these names are obviously not the actual names of the apostles.

My question is, why were they changed, and why doesnt the Bible refer to them as thier actual name?

The reason is because your bible is in English.

If you wish, you can refer them by their Aramaic or Greek names. They are still being used today.

Matthew = Mattanyahu Levy
Mark = Yehochanan Marcos (many had Hebrew and Greek names)
Luke = Lucas (a Greek)
John = Yehochanan

Peter = Shimon Cephas (the Aramaic for stone)
James = Yacov (King James wanted his name in the Bible so the translaters used the name Jacob)
Andrew = Adam (the Greek would be Andropos)
Jude / Judas = Yehuda (Judah)
Stephen = Tsephanyahu (also translated Zephaniah)
Bartholomew = Ben Tholomyahu (son of Ptolome)
Saul = Sha'ul with the Greek name Paulos (Paul)

Those are just the few I can recall off the top of my head. And of course:

Jesus = Yehoshua / Yeshua a Greek form of Joshua meaning YHVH Saves or Salvation of YHVH
