Reading For Class

Do you read everything that is assigned in all your classes? Or do you just read enough for the test when it comes? Or do you just read material for the classes that you are interested in?

I don't usually read everything that's assigned. I usually really prepare right before a test. Now, if it's something I'm interested in I'll read everything.

I don't read (or study) enough. I will usually skim through what is assigned, though sometimes I don't even do that.

I'm such a bad student.

I'm an English major and maybe, maybe, read 25% of what is given. Sparknotes.com definitely helps out!

^^ditto. I only read things for teach who I know will want in-depth detail. otherwise I skip it or use sparknotes or pinkmonkey.

I really think I should though.. I think it would help my grades come test time strongly personally.

Depends on the class. If it's anything non-technical and/or not an aviation class... I throw the book under the bed and cross my fingers. lol

If it's things that interest me, then I'll do more of the reading that's assigned.
If not, I'm unfortunately one of those students who'll find a good general text to read before exams.

I honestly just read enough for the test. That is not good to cram. But that's how I always have done it and it's hard to break old habits!

The best thing I've heard to do is review a few minutes after each class. I heard by doing it this way you'll retain more of the information learned in class, score better on test, and get more sleep because you won't have to be staying up all night cramming!

Reading all the material just makes it so much easier and less stressful for me. If the material is really boring, I take notes while I am reading because otherwise I will just go off into daydreaming and not remember a thing I read.

Phew, I'm glad I'm not the only one who does not read everything. Haha. Well, I start off with good intentions and then...it starts to get to the point where I hardly read anything. After Spring Break I tend to not read anything unless I half to or for a test. It's a sham that I put so much money for these classes and then don't read....

I know just what you mean. Every semester I tell myself that I'm really going to stay organized, do all the reading...and then I start to slack off. Except for me I really kick in into gear after spring break. I usually do the best then because I know I've really got to work hard to get the grade I want.

I'm pretty happy with my grades and what I've learned so I must be doing ok.

I'm just the opposite. My math or science classes I rarely read for. I go to class, take notes, and do the homework problems, but rarely read the books (the acception was p-chem).

For my non-major classes (anything in liberal arts) I tend to read 80-90%, because these things don't come as intuitivly to me and I can't wing it on a general grasp of concept.

I get good grades...I just don't learn. Haha! I hate that..but I haven't found a way to get past that yet.

Oh dear, I've misrepresented myself! There is no way on this jolly green earth that I'd read a stupid math book!! By technical what I mean includes, aircraft operating manuals, aviation regulations, flight theory, aerodynamics and every other topic relating specifically to flight such as weather.

Everything else, to me, is just kindling. lol (oh dur, and obviously the Bible is in the reading list!!)

I think that college is a way to get as much fun out of life before entering the work force. I read a lot for fun in the summer, but I hardly ever read while at school. In fact, I hardly go to classes either, the only thing required that I actually attend is practice...

Looks like I lied! I don't read math books, either. Maybe that's why I suck at math
