Dear friends,
This christmas my brother's side of the family is hosting our family Christmas get-together. However I have an auto-immune deficiancy and his whole family is unvaccinated. So my question to the forum is what would you do in this case? Would you risk your safety and health and have Christmas at your unvaccinated family member's place or would you stay back?

You aren't yourself vaccinated?

I guess it doesn't really matter if you are since the vaccines aren't nearly as effective as they were supposed to be in protecting people from the virus.

Anyway, it seems pretty clear that you'd be at significant risk if you attended the celebration. Ironically, you'd be no less at risk if they were all vaccinated since being vaccinated doesn't prevent infection or transmission of the virus.

Bummer.

Are you yourself vaccinated?
If not, can you be safely vaccinated?
If you are not vaccinated but can safely be vaccinated, get vaccinated ASAP.
I don't know enough about your condition to know if that will sufficiently protect you, so I would defer to your doctor on the ultimate "yes" or "no".

Doesn't really help you, though, does it? Vaccinated or not, people can still transmit the virus to you and with a compromised immune system in tandem with the weakness of the vaccines, you're taking a big risk going to the celebration. Being vaccinated isn't anywhere close to a perfect safeguard for anyone and far less so in your case.

Again, bummer.
