Hi All,
I am new to this website and actually new to hearing from the Holy Spirit as of 6 months ago. I am struggling with trying to understand whether augmenting my body is wrong under God's law. Many of us have earrings, tatoos, wear make up, hair extensions, contacts, braces which augment our natural appearance. And as it relates to men they may die their hair, tatoors, earrings, buy flashy cars to augment their appearance or perception. I am a very very small busted lady and I want breasts. I feel like it would help me feel like a complete woman. I am not looking for attention from men, this truly is about my personal desire for myself. I an in a relationship with a Chrisitan man and at first he was ok with it, but now I think he questions where the desire is coming from, why I am not happy with my natural self. I have given thought to it, I love myself but want an enhacement. Can we discuss how God might view enhacements? Any bible references would be really heplful. Thanks.

I think one of the only arguments about that is that it costs a lot of money, and spending a lot of money on vanity is not particularly Christian when so many people are in need.

This is not to say that it's any better or worse than the other things you mentioned that people do to alter their perceptions, but I think the money thing is what would keep me from doing the same (that and my huge fear of surgery :p)

I don't know if it's necessarily a sin. I guess a lot of that depends on why you're having it done.

I would strongly advice you do your homework. Breast augmentations aren't a one time deal. You have to "maintain" them so to speak and that will require more surgeries and $$$ to do so. I once thought I'd like to have it done too, but after researching it decided it's not worth the risk or hassle.

Are pride and vanity sins?

You say it's not about attention, but a personal desire for yourself.
What do you think adding inches to your bustline will do for you?
Implants won't make you more "womanly."
They won't make you more attractive, but they may make you look fake.
They won't make you a better person.
They won't make you love yourself, and they won't make anyone else love you.

I think it would be far more Christ-like to give the money you would use to make your breasts larger to a charity. Maybe to a shelter for abused women or a children's charity. They need it more than you need a bigger bust.

Amen! Great post! Why are you railing against God op? Don't you like the body He gave you?

Some of us are indeed strange.
we even wear lipstick or style our hair.
Even though God gave us a wonderful body, it's OK to diet or even exercise.

This is not as simple as wearing lipstick or cutting your hair. This is a serious surgical procedure which can have lifelong consequences. People don't just get worked...they die...or are severely damaged both psychologically or physically. Forgive me for being bold and honest. Our bodies can benefit from diet and exercise...our bodies need all the help we can give it without stuffing it with foreign objects. I already have (benign) growths growing without adding further complications. Why complicate the way our body works...amen?

Surgery is certainly one option.
One I don't recommend.
But it's not the only way.

I personally would say it's a life time commiment I guess everyone has different views if it was up to me I would have a reduction. I don't have like super big ones or anything, it's just that I would rather have small ones. I am not going to get the procedure done or anything though

I think that surgery is a little bit invasive, to be honest, and so many things can go wrong - but if you would genuinely be a happier person if you got this done, then do it, because happiness is infectious and people need more of it.

However: is it something that even a good push-up bra wouldn't fix? Maybe you could give the illusion of bigger breasts by wearing a good bra and flattering clothes.

I don't think it is vain or selfish to be concerned about aspects of your appearance. If you are a good person, and you have surgery, then you won't suddenly become a bad person -you'll just be a good person with bigger boobs. ;)

I had breast enhancement surgery before I became a Christian. I really don't know if I would have it now because Jesus has taught me how to love myself and not worry so much about my outward appearance. But it's a personal decision for you alone to make. My surgery went well though and I am happy with the results. I was pretty sore for a couple of weeks and it was expensive. Just find a skilled surgeon and specify exactly what you want. Good luck in whatever decision you make.

they look aweful, i've heard. so many guys prefer a real "rack" than fake ones. i wouldn't do it. i'm flat chested and i don't care. i love my body and wouldn't change it.

breast implants can make you very sick. i heard of one lady who's exploded, and she has silicon lumps all over her body -- in her BRAIN no less!! they can also get hard and gross.

What an encouraging post! Don't change your attitude. God has given you such wisdom and you're so young too! Come to think of it...I wouldn't change anything about my body as well...except being a bit healthier...asthetically I don't think I have any problems...I don't even like wearing revealing clothes...although I sometimes fall into that sin...

Guys like it when you don't need to put on a show...ask your ex or whoever...I bet they'll say they like you with dirty hair, no make-up and daggy clothes :p At least mine did.

It also depends on the reason for getting surgery done. I got a nose job but it was because I had a collapsed septum (nostril) so I was only getting breathing through one side. I read that it can develop into heart disease later on so I had it done and they fixed a lump on my nose while they were at it. I didn't get the lump fixed to attract guys...I waited until I was with someone (my current fiance) because I wanted them to love me for me, despite my shortcomings.

When I did have the surgery, my pastor came in while I was in prep and prayed over me and it gave me a lot of peace. After the surgery I never had any pain (which was weird..my nose didn't hurt, just the bruising).

I would just think about the reason why you are getting it done, and then pray about it.

Man, so many people are so paranoid. "But they are so dangerous!! They can explode!!! Infections, disease, death!! The horror!!!" Sorry, couldn't help myself. Anyway, I've been considering them too, when I'm a little bit older though. Just because you're changing your body doesn't mean you're disrespecting God in any way. My hair is naturally curly, I get is straightened. Sometimes I wear make-up. I wear clothes that flatter my body. I like to look presentable and attractive, there is no sin in that.

Anyway, go for it!!!

We are not being hard just for the sake of being hard. We say these things not to gain popularity. We say it because we love you guys and above all we want to honour God (well I do anyway). We have good reasons behind our views. One more thing. If your clothing is a frame for your body then God hates it. If your clothing is a frame for your face (where the Grace of God is) then you are in conformity to God's will and God's law. This isn't a game. I take everything..abosolutely EVERYTHING God says seriously and when he says dress in modest attire then so be it. I'm only saying this out of love!
