Rate this rap verse out of 10...

I spit rhymes that people call crazy, opinionated, off the wall
But they don’t make me fall,
I just knock `em out, and make `em gasp and crawl,
crush they balls, while I’m sittin` here walkin` tall,
Slowly creepin, when you see me, you might as well be weepin
Watch your back, I'm right above you while your sleepin
Waitin to reap the words I speak, million dollar contracts I seek
You'll be surprised, I'm a full rhyme shiner
Nothin is finer, my lines shut up these whiners
`Cause with all the hype, this rap’s a different type
Talent that just became ripe, I’ve earned my stripes, I smoke my opponents up like a tobacco pipe
I proved myself, I don’t need to act macho, my words hit the spot though
I just keep rappin solo, keep signin` more photo’s, earnin` dough when haters go loco while I’m receivin respect, (oh no!)
Call me Josh, Slim, or Mr. Shady
I'll have you cryin` like one of those young Brady's
I'm addicted to this lyrical act, ever since gangsta rap made me act like a maniac!
Before you call it degrading, look at the ratings
If you mess with me, I'll explicitly diss you
have it published in every magazine issue, from the Star Tribune, to Timbuktu (Whoo!)
Crazy, mentally ill, to name a few
While I jive, in front of pastors, teachers, husbands, wives
Look out for me, Spring two thousand and five.

When did it become Christian to not only make people "watch their backs, and gasp, crawl and weep" while at the same time "crushing their balls". Dude, for your own safety you have to put down those gangster rap and Eminem CD's because you are being influenced heavily by them and are heading down a pretty dark path. You busted out some pretty good rhymes, but the content is definitely not Christian, is this what you want?

Dude....I can't believe you are actually taking those lyrics seriously. I was just making a rap song. Jeez, you think I'm really gonna do all that stuff? Whoever said that my lyrics HAD to be Christian? I am gonna be a rapper just like Eminem someday.

Also, I am guessing that you like New Found Glory, well, they swear in their music too sometimes. So I wouldn't be pointing the finger. Don't be a hypocrite. God, it's people like you that make me dislike CF even more.

I hope to God this doesn't turn into a huge debate over secular rap music and Christianity, because if it does, I'm leaving CF forever. I just wanted you to rate my verse. Is that too hard for you people?????

Hey, if you have the gift of poetry, use it. You piece things together extremely well in your lyric, it just flows really well in my opinion. When it comes to crushing balls though... as unpleasant as it may seem, isn't that necessary sometimes with our walk with God? Hate to say it, but I've had to take a beating every once and a while to realign and focus my view of the world

And one more thing, you definately should NOT leave CF. Share your thoughts, your verse, insights, whatever you want. Even if someone doesnt like it for one reason or the other, keep writing your lyric. Make sure you use it for the good, and use it to inspire faith, courage, knowledge, openness, strength, fervor, and all other blessings we need in this world.

Indeed, I agree with this.

By the way, if you need any beats to your songs, my friend makes alot of them, maybe, with his permission, I could give you some to use in your songs, if you'd like.

If you have anger than go hit the gym, seek counselling or go join a social justice group. Better yet, if you like rap and you want to vent some frustration then right something politically charged or something that will induce change. Don't just boast about yourself and how angry you are, say something constructive. I never said that NFG was one of my fave bands, I think that the name suits my faith though.

Lmao...dude where do you people keep getting this idea that I have "anger"? I'm not angry at all at anyone or anything. I just wanted to rap a few lines and see what happens. I'm not that great at rapping yet I'm still practicing though. But I'm getting better. Jeez, quit taking me so seriously and making snap judgements.

funny how "faith" makes people into a boastful people.
oh but parden me...i guess it's not boasting if we're just showing off how moral we are.
...

dude...if this is what he's gifted with, then stop dictating to him how and where he should use it.
it's as if you actually believe you know his life better than he does.

I'm not a fan of rap, so I might be wrong, but isn't the whole point of rap to "keep it real".

If you are just making up this intense stuff, wouldn't people who like rap think that you're dissin' them and call you a wannabe?

I really don't know...

Yes, this is the secular forum, thanks for the insight. SlimshadyJB has identified himself as a Christian in the past. This particular thread called for feedback on his rhymes so I obliged him and provided mine. Or maybe I should become robotic and give him a 9 out of 10 without thinking twice.

exacty.
you're supposed to comment on his rhymes. and by the way, you were never expected to give him a 9 out of 10 score.
but you don't have to (in fact you shouldn't) make comments which imply that he isn't being a good christian.
you don't know him, so don't pretend like you do.
for all i know, maybe he's a "better christian" than you are.

however...i don't give christians ratings...
but hey, since we all seem to do that. let's just pretend..

The originial comment that I made was to warn him against the trappings of some of the music that he is listening to. I simply said that some of the material he discussed in his verse was not what I would expect from someone who is Christian. That is my opinion and I am entitled to express it. I never once said that I am a better Christian than he. In fact, as somebody who once was led down a very destructive path in life by listening to gangster rap, I wanted to just make him aware of how some forms of music can warp the mind of those not prepared to deal with it. If it came across in the wrong way, I apologize, but I do not think that you have the right to say that I am acting self-righteous at his expense as you were not aware of my intent.

come on guys. I understand the points made in this thread. However, unlike real life, converastions here cannot get random and off-topic. (I've recently learned this one in another thread)
Please, lets not turn the secular music charts forum to one huge debate. My thinking is that discussions on the dangers of music should be discussed somewhere else.
The problem with the internet is that the intent behind someone's post is not easily seen. What is ment as lighthearted, or with love is taken as judgement. and vice versa, things are taken the wrong way all the time.
Lets try to keep this thread open, instead of the mods having to close it down.

10/10!! Go SlimShadyJB!!!! :) Your rapping is like awesome!!

[oh and about it being influenced by Eminem, I WOULD TAKE THAT AS A COMPLIMENT! :) Eminem is a VERY talented rapper who is VERY awesome....so lay off that, please.]

Oh, and expressing yourself through music [art] is a very good thing...and practicing his rapping is also a good thing, in my op. I hope he does make it big someday, and that he will get signed onto Shady/Aftermath. I will buy all of his CD's too...:)

In short: stop dissing him, support him as a fellow christian and rapper. I loved your lines Slim!

GO EMINEM AND SLIMSHADYJB!!!!!! YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST RAPPERS IN THE WORLD!!

Well Mr. New Found Glory I would just like to tell you that you are INCORRECT...rap is not "leading me down a dangerous path" and its not warpin my mind. If it was, then I wouldnt be typing this, i'd be out doing stupid stuff. But I'm NOT! So quit judging others actions just because of what they listen to. It's really shallow and irritating. I can't believe that you'd actually question my salvation over some rap lyrics. Wow...ever heard the Bible verse about not judging others? If not, you'd better look it up. Peace out.
