As the book of Enoch is not part of the Scripture and by placing it with Scripture brings confusion as to authority of Scripture... at least you quote Scripture first !

Then let the confused learn. The Book of Enoch was around at the time of the early church, and Jude quoted from it. Nevertheless, I mainly drop it in response to those claiming the rapture is a 19th century idea, as I see it plainly in Enoch. Not only the rapture, but the alignment with 2 Thess 2 idea of a restrainer ceasing his restraint, which in Enoch Chap LIII is caused by the house of his congregation "appearing" (again, the rapture) and so the evil will be no more hindered in the name of the Lord.

2. And their hands commit lawless deeds,
And the sinners devour all whom they lawlessly oppress:
Yet the sinners shall be destroyed before the face of the Lord of Spirits,
And they shall be banished from off the face of His earth,
And they shall perish for ever and ever.

3. For I saw all the angels of punishment abiding (there) and preparing all the instruments of Satan. 4. And I asked the angel of peace who went with me: 'For whom are they preparing these instruments?' 5. And he said unto me: 'They prepare these for the kings and the mighty of this earth, that they may thereby be destroyed.

6. And after this the Righteous and Elect One shall cause the house of his congregation to appear: henceforth they shall be no more hindered in the name of the Lord of Spirits.

7. And these mountains shall not stand as the earth before his righteousness,
But the hills shall be as a fountain of water,
And the righteous shall have rest from the oppression of sinners.'

Hi all!

Google doesn't seem to want to give me a list of proof-texts that are used to show the rapture in Scripture. I'm researching it trying to understand the theology behind it more.

Can you all share the proof verses you know about within Scripture? Surely the entire theology has not been formed from 1 Thes 4...there obviously should be additional Biblical witnesses, right?

Thanks for your help!

1 Thess 4:13-18
Matt 24:19-31
John 14:1-3
===============================================
John 14:1-3 shows us the how and when of the rapture

John 14:
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house (heaven) are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

Matt 24:29-31 shows us "how" and therefore when saints are gathered up and taken to heaven

Matt 24:
29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.

1 Thess 4:13-18 shows how "how" and therefore when the saints are taken to heaven

1 Thess 4:
13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

1 Corinthians 15:50-52 I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

1 Peter 1:13 tells us to be fully focused on that future event --

1 Peter 1:
13 Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Rapture is not in scripture.

True.

Words/phrases like -

Rapture
"virgin birth"
"turn your life over to Jesus"
"give your life to Jesus"
"Trinity"

etc

Are not found in scripture per se. But the concepts they represent -- as a kind of short hand -- are in scripture.

So in this post #22 I show a few of the texts that the term is being used to represent.

This is a response I never expected to read/hear from a student of a Scripture. I will flatly disagree with you.

Looking for proof in Scripture, the only written source of truth, is literally the foundation of the faith.
You and I must have a different definition of what a "proof text" is.

Many times when someone discusses what the Bible teaches what they may use, even though they may be unaware of it, what is called Proof Text. Proof texting uses certain short passages, many times only a single verse, pulled from the Bible in support of a particular belief or doctrine.

The problem with this method is that the person who is Proof texting usually gives their selected verses a meaning that may be entirely different from what the writer intended. The Bible is written in such a way that most verses cannot be correctly understood in a stand-alone fashion. The context of a particular verse, who wrote it, the time period in which it was written, where did they write it, etc. is needed to arrive at what God intended it to convey.

John 14:1-3
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
Matthew 24:31
Isaiah 26:19-20

and a bit of an inference.. but Amos 8:9-11, the famine of the word of God comes because there are no people spreading the Gospel anymore (they've all been taken) after the sun goes dark at noon.
