Yeah, this sometimes happens when people have access to a "shared" folder and think that when they're deleting it they're just getting rid of their local copies or getting out of sharing it. Oops! I'm glad you seem to have fixed the problem.

it's solved temporarily - I think I'll need to extract the contents of that folder - store it elsewhere and then delete the thing [ after warning him ]

I have to admit I would have thought it useful to him now - but .....

If you had the Dropbox application installed on your computer, the deleted folder should have been copied to the computer.

The files are recovered and they are accessible as pdfs in my DropBox on both my iPhone and my iPad for use in an emergency, when offline.

This has 'saved my bacon' in the past when I've got to Church prepared for a particular Liturgy with its specific Readings and then discovered we had a Baptism Service and no readings prepared in English for it - BUT they were on my iPad !! The problem then was no-one had thought to tell me about it - we needed them in English for the family and we have neither an English Apostle or Gospel in Church

This is why I keep them in DropBox and the person who deleted them didn't realise that he would also delete them from mine [ he does now ! ]

Yes - the files are also stored on my Computer but I still need them in DropBox
