Ok this is driving me absolutly nuts. Anytime I go into OBOB and read a thread started by a protestant, in this case one of our own Calvinist, I see certain memebers there, who will go completely off topic and out of their way to bash Protestant doctrine, they will suffere absolutly no consequences and will not be repremanded in any way. Fine...

I mean I want to to talk about how their Papal infalliblity has come back to bite them, how they actually accepted semi-Pelagianism at Trent, after once condeming it. I want to talk about their notion of "infused" righteousness. And of course it's going to be in negative light, that's why I"m REFORMED!

ok rant off....needed to change the rant a little, I don't want to seem like I'm saying our own moderators here don't do a good job, they do, I just think we should have the liberty to discuss their doctrine uninterupted as they discuss ours.

HOWEVER, the minute we(the rest of the boards) discuss Catholic doctrine in a negative light, LOCKED. Any usually because of a few of their overzealous people wonder in and start debating. However, even then, shouldn't their posts just be deleting and we can go one discussing Catholic doctrine? I mean I want to to talk about how their Papal infalliblity has come back to bite them, how they actually accepted semi-Pelagianism at Trent, after once condeming it. I'm sorry that you feel that way, personally, I don't have a problem with non Catholic's asking questions respecfully in OBOB in a non-debate manner(and I'm not the only Catholic who feels that way, i'm sure). However, if you feel that the moderating done in OBOB is questionable, then this surely isn't the right mode of bringing it to the attention of the senior staff, who will (I believe), if you have a legitimate complaint, deal with it accordingly :) (not to mention that such discussion here is most likely a violation of forum rules;) )

God Bless.

I like your Ranting  , :preach: I think this should be a thread where we can vent our anger/rant our heads off. Though i think it should only be for the Reformed Foke

I never go over there- my opinion or knowledge about any issue is "debating". I'm sure this thread will likewise be deleted.

Interestingly, when I engage Catholics who don't like the fact that im challenging them (say, on another web-site) I always suggest they become a member of OBOB. There they can say anything they like without being challenged.

James Swan

sorry tigersnare that my mary thread was closed down :sigh:

Haha, dont' apologize buddy, I'm sure it had some to do with me. There is a person on OBOB that I shall not name, however would be obvious to someone reading that thread, that constantly bashes protestant doctrine. And no matter what I post, she almost always finds a way to attack my Theology....And if I ignore her attacks, like I did in your thread, she just sends new ones. Which is only shows her peers over there her true colors.

i would highly recommend editing the last sentence...but that is just me
but i completely agree with everything else. It seems like we are/were handicapped in there. There are times when I wanted to show that the Protestants do have an understanding of certain things (like the issue with the Seat of Moses) or clear up the many misconceptions on protestant issues that many seemed to have, but if I did then they would claim that I am debating, and the thread would have been closed down (which it was) and I probably would have recieved warnings.
Oh well, i guess i will just rant alongside with ya

Yes, I know. I told her once I felt she was being hostile and she said: "must be the 2x4 i carry around."
I just laughed!! As this kind of response is quite typical of her, I have noticed even from just reading thru other threads and not contributing.

She does seem rather hateful and won't answer questions without hostility if she has an inkling that you may not agree. ( Ithought maybe I was being sensitive...but obviously it is...well....obvious to to others too.)

Generally when a protestant starts to prove a point...or just bring up a valid argument, the thread does get shut down. Which stinks because usually that is just the point the truth was about to come out and questions wouild have been answered.

I have genuine questions becuase there are somethings about the Catholic faith I find right on target scripturally and they have a very beautiful way of looking at some things. HOWEVER in my quest for answers I usually have an "issue " I would like explained. (You know some of the things that were found to be a corruption by certain fathers of the protestant movement.) Several of them (not all members of OBOB by any means) take this as a debate and shut the thread down.

I would just like to be educated before I say I do or don't want to attend a catholic church. But it is impossible to hear both sides ther as they shut it down if both sides are revealed.

I'd like to know exactly what Luther changed and why. I would like to know why protestants think these ideas should have been removed while catholics think they should have remained. But you simply cannot find out there without ticking somone off.

Hi UKOK,

I have always appreciated that you are one that gives answers respectfully at your Forum. You have answered some of mine very nicely and politely and given me insight into your faith.

You will notice tho, that there are planty of threads like this at OBOB that talk about Catholic views of protestants that are allowed to remain. So please respect that this is a protestant forum and don't try to get this thread shut down as if it were on the Catholic forum. It is starting to be a double standard,.

Since when is is against forum rules to state doctrinal differences and beliefs...and questions and frustrations in searching for answers?

No one disparaged Catholics here in this thread. He is just complaining about the way he was related to, there at OBOB.

Love,
Dawn

I'm not intending to get this thread closed down...I didn't flame or argue or debate...I wasn't aware that only same church members could post in congregation areas...and obviously you were'nt either because of the times that you have posted your opinion in OBOB

I was referring to the discussion of moderator actions in OBOB, which IS a breach of forum rules.

Fair enough. You know, just as an aside, I had hoped that after resigning as a mod myself, I would have more time to fellowship with my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ...it seem's that I shall have to be overly cautious as to where I do so in future and simply report the post's that I believe I have cause to object to or to ignore them completely.

I'm exiting the thread now, I don't wiish to cause further discord here... it has already been mentioned by another here that this thread should be for this congregations inhabitants only. I apologise for unsolicited contribution, I shan't make the same mistake again.

God Bless. :)

No...no..no. You misunderstand, I think we should all post everywhere, and I appreciate your input. I simply think that when we post in the catholic forum it tends to get closed, so then for a catholic to suggest that this thread isn't appropriate (in a protestant setting) seems like a double standard. Kind of like "we catholics can say what we want when we want....but you protestants better not disagree or we will get the thread shut down."

That was all I meant.

I have never had a probelm with you or your posts, you have always been decent and cordial. and I appreciate it. I hope you don't leave any discussion becuase it isn't your particular denomination/sect. Your input has merit. I for one am interested in your input. Especially since you are one that has answered my questions in a friendly manner.

We are all loved by Christ and we all should do a better job of reflecting His love (me included!!) Some of these threads aren't doing that.:sigh:

Personally i think we should all have one sticky thread in each of the fellowship forums dedicated to the members of that particular forum to, rantings and ravings. The rules should be that no one who is not of that forums particular denomination or theological persuasion be allowed to post in the sticky thread.
Most non christian MB,s have at least one sticky thread dedicated to "Flaming" or "Rantings"

It would almost certainly lead to some new thread titles being started in other debating and discussion forums which would certainly keep these lazy old mods on their toes:D :p

I think it would be nice to be able to discuss the theological issues of the Reformation in detail...even though I have some Calvinist leanings, I don't feel right calling myself "Reformed", and you can't rightly have a conversation about the Reformation without at LEAST involving the Lutherans. :)

I understand that back in the Olden Days of CF that there used to be one PRE (Protestant/Reformed/Evangelical?) forum for all non-Catholics... is there any hope that a similar forum might be available for theological/historical/ecumenical discussion?

If one more person calls me a heretic or apostate, I'm gonna flip.

Constance (one petal shy, but the other petals are particularly splendid specimens)
