  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

.....and how we sometimes complicate what God intended to be so simple. Lately I have also wondered why we will start praying to God...talking to Him, and then use words like 'God's' Word....when we should be saying Your Word. Suddenly in mid-sentence we've de-personalized Him. We're not speaking to Him anymore, but about Him. Do we realize we even do that? It's like having a conversation with someone, listening, maintaining eye contact, being interested and alert, and then turning your head and continuing to talk to them for the rest of the conversation while looking at something else.

Wonder if He ever feels like......What the........?!!

I am so confused, I go away and we're on Random Thread of Randomness [4] and i come back and it's onto Random Thread of Randomness [8]

... and I was only away 5 minutes :D

Hey everybody

When people say that something is the word of the day, does that mean you have to pay royalties to the day if you use that word? Or are you only meant to use that word on that particular day? Also, who gets to decide which word a given day is allowed to lay claim to? I don't think people gave this enough thought... or possibly I am giving it too much thought...

A Baptist couple decide that they want to get a dog. As they are walking down the street in town, they notice that a sign in the pet shop is advertising "Christian Puppies." Their interest piqued, they go inside.
"How do you know they're Christian puppies?"

"Watch," says the owner, as he takes one of the dogs and says, "Fetch the Bible."

The dog runs over to the desk, and grabs the Bible in its mouth and returns. Putting the Bible on the floor, the owner says, "Find Psalm 23."

The dog flips pages with its paw until he reaches the right page, and then stops. Amazed and delighted, the couple purchase the dog and head home.

That evening, they invite some friends over and show them the dog, having him run through his Psalm 23 routine. Impressed, one of the visitors asks "Does he also know 'regular' commands?"

"Gee, we don't know. We didn't ask," replies the husband.

Turning to the dog, he says, "Sit." The dog sits. He says, "Lie down." The dog lies down. He says "Roll over." The dog rolls over.

He says "Heel." The dog runs over to him, jumps up on the sofa, puts both paws on the owner's forehead and bows his head.

"Oh look!" the wife exclaims. "He's PENTECOSTAL!"
