CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't have to center all my plans around one person.
I only cook for one person.
I miss a good date night with intimacies afterwards.
I can sit around the house naked.

I vacillate a lot between being okay with being single and not being okay with it.

BBM = Too much information LOL. That one made me laugh.
My random thought about being single is I don't have to answer to anyone but God and I can do what I please when I please or not at all if I don't please.
Not to mention, relationships take so much work and energy and right now, working 2 jobs, I just don't have the time or the energy....unless Matthew McConaughey calls.

I wouldn't mind having someone to answer to some of the time because that means I wouldn't be carrying the whole responsiblity for every decision I make. I actually find that to be one of the hard parts of being single.

Paul tells us to remain as we are. if were single, remain single. if betrothed, remain that way. im single and im content knowing this. i trust that God will place someone in my life if it is His will. it does suck that there is a possibility il be a virgin all my life but thats alright haha.

I used to feel that way more often, but now I think my husband would not approve of my easy going way of raising my teenagers. I don't approve some of the time either. I just think sometimes he would never let happen what I let happen. But it's not like I divorced him. Nothing I could do would change him not being here, so I guess I am now used to it.

Yes...but after 1 Cor 7:8 there is 7:9....and although I can 'control' myself on a daily basis, it is an aspect of life that I miss...more than a lot.
The reason to stay single is to have more time and energy to serve the Lord. As a widow and a mother, I have less time and energy to serve the Lord as a single person than I would if I were married. There are also verses that charge young widows to remarry so that they don't become a burden on the church. I actually take very little from the church, but I still feel like I am a burden...especially when I don't have time to volunteer...(the guilt trip gets very heavy especially when I used to carry more than my share but that "credit" doesn't transfer when you move).
In the meantime, I will just wait and learn to be alone the best I can.

I think that sometimes we need to imagine who they would have been if they had to watch us go through all we have gone through. There are things that I do that my hubby would never agreed to if he never died, but at the same time, I feel peace that if he were back and had the whole big picture, he would have been okay with most of them...maybe even have agreed that it was best. I hate making the decisions that I know he would have had problems with...and I hate making decisions that I have no idea of how he would have wanted it...and I hate making the decisions that he would have made so that I didn't have to.

now that I'm older many of things we think of that dominate marriage. having children, building family wealth etc .. are either completed for me or almost so. So I think the right relationship doesn't have to seperate us from others that God would have us minister.

I'm with dayhiker, I can:
Lounge around the house in my boxers
Leave the seat up
Not bathe
Not have to watch home improvement or real estate shows anymore
Also:
No more trips to Bed Bath and Beyond
Not having to watch Grey's Anatomy anymore
Eating a colon cancer causing diet
Holidays kinda stink though
Fighting the urge to become a crazy cat guy
Lounge around the house in my boxers

The kids would veto me walking around in my underwear or less.
I kind of like the toilet seat down.
Bathing is for me so still not optional...ewww.
And the kids keep possession of the tv remotes.
Can't afford Bed, Bath, and Beyond because of kids.
Need to keep the diet relatively healthy both for the kid's health and so that I don't die of colon cancer until they are grown up.
Holidays are hard and expensive because I'm trying to keep them happy.
And...this is the good part...I don't have to feed either the cat or the dog...and the litter box gets changed by yelling.

that is great. Ya being single means one has to do it all themselves. No shared chores. But I find I don't create a lot of dirt, the spiders do create too many webs this time of year tho.
I like cooking simple meals.
I love that I can have a good web conversation while sitting home alone, n***d and she doesn't even know! LOL

Maybe we need a new word for single parents...because we aren't really "single' (meaning one) until the kids leave home. LOL

So I guess my real title is "Only parent with lots of mismatched baggage"...."single" doesn't come for a few more years.
As for dayhiker talking in the nude? Take full advantage of your imagination...for you, he can look like a slightly older Matthew McConaughey...make it fun! The beauty of the internet...we all look like what our imaginations say we look like.

For you (and us) I would agree, but haven't you known people ( I have them in my own family) that just go round and round (that reminds me of a song lol) and the pattern is the same just a different day? Stuck is kind of what I mean and THAT kind of baggage no one wants.
