  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Does everyone have a nice thanks giving planned?

Do any of you find yourselves tempted to lie about holiday plans so people won't feel sorry for you?
Around the 4th of july a few years ago I had decided to rent some movies, buy some bar-b-que, from my favorite resturant, and get some much needed rest. Someone asked me what I was doing and I could tell by the look on her face, that she felt sorry for me. That really bothered me so now I avoid the question, unless it's someone I would like to spend the holidays with.

I'll say something like "I'm weighing my options". ^_^

I got that just this Monday. A friend of mine asked what I was doing and when I told him I was just going to watch some football and maybe go for a bike ride I could see it all over his face. I changed the subject pretty quick because it seemed like he was about to invite me over to his house with his family. While I would have apprecited the gesture, I would rather just stick to my plan :)

Sounds like a good plan. Some of my best holidays were actually spent with myself. I am fortunate to have family close now, so going over to my brother's. He's also my pastor, it's very nice, although most of the kids are now gone. Hoping my daughter makes it home, depends on whether she can find a ride. :)

Hi Radagast, and everyone!

Surely today is Friday huh?

One hour and 40 more minutes to go, by my clock ... :p

Re: Thanksgiving. I'm fortunate to have family in the area, so I spend Thanksgiving with them. However, lately I've been getting asked if I'm going anywhere for Thanksgiving, and my answer that I'm going over to my parents' house seems a little tame. Some of the families at my church are taking the week off and going to visit their relatives in other cities, etc.

Ah, there's always someone who is doing something "more exciting" than the next person. But I'm thankful for the basics in life -- health, food, shelter, job, family, friends, CF. :)
