Yes, Norway is a high cost, high taxes country, but it ain't cheap in London UK either. I have been there many times. I don't think you will find our prices overly high compared to the English prices, candleflame. I think you will like it here even.![]()

You can get to Norway on rather cheap tickets, if you look for them online for instance. I have often found very reasonable trips on the net.
Concerning costs, it depends on how much you are willing to spend, how much comfort and luxury you want etc. You can have a trip that won't cost you the shirt, if you don't mind a 3-4 stars hotel instead of a 5-6 star with luxury. I bet you can find books in England about travelling in Norway, from budget trips to luxury trips, can't you?
