Our dog Daphne crossed over the Rainbow Bridge today. I am so sad. Her sister, Kiki, crossed over last April. I know a lot of priests say dogs weren’t created with human souls and they can’t get to heaven, but is that true? Will I see my beloved dogs again in heaven?

Tonight was the first time I’ve cried in ages. I’m on an antidepressant along with other medications that cause emotional blunting so I haven’t been able to cry in a long time.

I don't know, I have a hard time believing that all of God's creation won't be restored to their pre-fall state and in the new heaven (unless the human portion of that creation did not have the Lord). I'm not good with this topic though.

I have experience with ADs - they cause big-time emotional blunting on an everyday basis, but when someone dies (or a pet), you can cry just like you would if you weren't taking the medication. I know from experience. I was worried before my mom passed that my AD would prevent me from crying when she passed, but it did not.

I believe we’ll see them again.

I’m so sorry for your loss.

CS Lewis believed pets are saved through their owners.

If anything, they are in the hands of God.

Trust in his mercy.

Thank you! I told her I’d see her again someday And she’ll be able to run free with Kiki.

Well we went to our granddaughters birthday party today and that got my mind off it some but coming home to a house without my baby just feels so weird. I keep thinking she’s still here.

Apparently when a priest or religious sister says that our pets don’t go to heaven, it’s just an opinion, nothing more. Its not dogma.
Correct.

Anybody else have an opinion on this topic?
I asked my former priest who has his own dog about this on a Facebook PM but haven’t heard from him. His fb page hasn’t had any activity since the beginning of February. He works at, and I think pastors, three churches so he’s busy. Should I call him or wait until I hear from him?

I’d just wait.

Animals have the breath of life to be animated.

Souls are judged but spirits are not.
Animals don’t have judgment.
But they have an eternal spirit. Because spirit is not destructible.

This is why he’ll is the second death albeit eternal.

Where the animals go we don’t know.
But it’s likely that innocent of judgment will be at peace from the Lord.
