  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I would have to agree with you.

I love Coldplay, and I think they are very talented, but as nadroj said, they just can't even be compared to Radiohead.

Cmon, no coldplay album even comes close to Ok COmputer
call me crazy, but I ENJOY listening to Rush of Blood as much as i enjoy ok comp.

and OKC is in my top 10 albums of all time list. I don't think Rush of Blood is as "good", but i like listening to it more.

i don't know if that makes sense, but i've come to realize alot of the music i listen to isn't that "great". It's just dear to me. And coldplay is that way.

Blackwasp, you said you don't understand all the hype around coldplay. I think there is a percentage of pop-hype, just because they're big on the radio/mtv/vh1, but they're also respected by alot of people with higher standards than radio hits. Why? I don't think it's because of their instrumental ability. I think it is in their songwriting. and the delivery of the lyrics by chris's sweet voice. They are great songwriters. If you have seen the behind the scenes footage on their dvd, you heard will (i think it was will) say "we're not writing songs about pimps and ho's in Compton". They write simple songs about emotions that people can relate to.
and chris said that he's "fighting to make sincere music the main thing again."

I see coldplay's music as very sincere. It's really personal. More-so than radiohead's, IMO. And it's discouraging to see all this garbage that clutters radio, and pop culture these days. Pop artists who don't write their own music, pop artists who lip synche. Pop artists that are just good-looking, or cool.
