  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

RACISM? No, it is not.

There's a difference between natural change and forced changed.

e.g. That MP saying Halifax is "too white" is an attack.

What he really meant that Halifax is too white and ENGLISH, too much of an interesting example of a Maritime culture that developed over the centuries on the east coast of Canada. That it was too flavourful and that he despised the distinct accent.

He was saying it was getting in the way of the bilingualism [read conversion to French] and that it had to be destroyed as far as he was concerned. Let's flood the area with immigrants from Somalia or from the Sudan or from where-ever in order to awash it and dilute it to a paisley, anemic shell of its former self.

Other haters of our culture here will claim that
Ontario has no culture
and other lies to further their agenda (which includes the erasure of the existing cultures, especially Judeo-Christian, English, European-based cultures of Canada).

I agree that anyone who says that someone is "too white" or if anyone suddenly prohibits your religion....thats wrong.

but you're turning it into "people who arent white and some whites are anti white because of these few incidents." and whenever someone disagrees with you, you accuse them of being "anti white".

You need to get your act together and then re approach this thread with a more open mind.

You make me wonder if my little CF character was of a lighter body would you have responded to my posts so aggressively?

I'm going to give my challenge (but a little different) that I gave to rosenherman (and she couldnt answer) to you. name 10 things that are "white culture" in Canada and America and things that are excusively "American Culture" and "Canadian Culture".

Well , thank God somebody heard that.

Saying halifax Nova Scotia is "too white" is like saying Harlem NYC is too Black. It is a stupid bigotted thing to say.

There is nothing wrong with areas, countires and so on developing cultures. We don't have to be one bland non-culture. If you go to Harlem, don't complain if you hear some rap.

We're not talking about America, I've said very little about the USA and have only really quoted a statisitic or two. Mostly, we're talking about Aussies and Canadians standing up against the erasure of their cultures by people and forces that hate them.

I was talking to rosenherman about America. now I want you to answer what I asked her in respect to Canada.

When Europeans came to America they didnt immediately start trying to change everybody. but when they did they didnt stop. First it was the American Indians, then it was slavery, then they invaded Central/South America and completely demolished those countries' resources and so on. Rosenherman claimed that when people move from one country to another they leave their culture behind and that is simply not true.

And cultures living along side each other may have conflicts but those conflicts can be resolved and the cultures can keep going to some extent, although all cultures change, that cant be stopped.

In Australia when the Europeans moved there they oppressed the Aboriginals. Then they completely stopped all non-white immigration. and so on. That just isnt right because the white people werent the only people to be there in the first place and it wasnt there's.

I dont know so much about Canada, maybe you can show me.

Well, I think you made a worthy deliniation and certainly one all Christians should consider.

There are "cultures" that are Judeo-Christian based, such as Canada's. An attack on the culture can be indistinguishable to an attack on Christianity, an attempt to diminish it, block the Gospel and so on.

The issue is complicated, as all things are. It is pretty clear to me that there are people and forces inimicable to things they perceive as either "white" or "Christian" or even European-based. Why - how should I know? Why did so many Americans hate Blacks for so long? Why do the Turks hate the Kurds?

Here in Canada, I'm pretty sure there are Quebecers [and others] who despise cultures such as the ones that have developed in Newfoundland and in Nova Scotia. And they'd use their power to swamp these areas with immigrants to awash these cultures away.

So why I hear comments from MPs that Halifax is "too white" I get concerned.

When I read in this foreum what was going on in Australia and heard that it was supposedly "racist", I doubted.

I doubted because I had heard on the radio a woman who was commenting on the politically correct goings on in Australia. And it occured to me that the big riot in Australia probably wasn't so racist as was people being fed up with always having to diminish their own culture lest, God forbid, someone who already hates that culture is offended.

Kudos to Her Excellency Michaelle Jean for insisting it is a Christmas Tree.

All I can say to white-haters and black-haters and bigots everywhere is "Na na na na na nahhhhhhh! :)

Hitler didn't love his country. He hated it. And to prove it, he arranged the slaughter of millions of its citizens while leading the whole of it to utter ruin.

What Hitler did was evil, almost pure evil, thoroughly steeped in wickedness and utterly foul.

Now, that's not to say Germany nor Germans are evil. While Hitler's tryanny raged many Germans were up to many things, much of it good. Even Hiltler couldn't suppress all good. But Hilter's vicious rule? There was nothing good about it. It was twisted and rotten to the core.

The only sense of nationalism Hilter promoted was a barbaric and arrogant one.

You live in the United States. What traditions of yours are "being slaughtered"? Can you not practice your faith in both private and public settings? Can you not display your religious affiliation publically? Can you not congregate with like-minded individuals in public and private? This "martyr" syndrome is getting old.

No, we as Christians are constantly bashed for placing the Nativity in public places or for displaying anything other than the Pagan Yuletide displays. Most companies are having "Seasons Parties" rather than the traditional Christmas Parties. The original poster has a valid point. Our Christian rights are being eroded at an exponential rate by small minority religions within our country. When our forefathers granted freedom of religion they did not intend for small special interest groups to stifle and destroy the prevailing religion of Christianity. (don't make me quote Ben Franklin and George Washington) They intended for people to all get on the "My religion is the only way" mentality. And one other thing...the Australian thing is NOT about race. My mother-in-law and father-in-law live in Australia and have made me aware that much of this hostiliy stems from a recent attempt to cause a Nuclear Meltdown in Sydney. Terrorist were twarted and found to have detailed blueprints of the Nuclear power plant. So no, this not about race...it is about stopping a terrorist regime from killing innocent people when the problem has grown so big that the Government can't or won't fight the problem.

So thats my two cents
Blessings no matter what you believe

Don't know what country you're in...but...if you dont live in a theocracy you cant expect the country to revolve around your religion.

I do agree that if they are going to let people put up hanukkah and kwanzaa displays that they should allow both santa displays and nativity scenes too.

however you cant complain about stores and businesses saying "happy holidays" instead of "merry christmas".

Well Stephen, I must admit that what you have said isn't very helpful to me in my attempt to understand your views more clearly, because you haven't directly addressed the issues that I've raised (and perhaps it's my fault, if I haven't articulated myself well enough). However, since you claim to not support racist or "culturalist" doctrines, and since you don't espouse those views, I believe you.

All I ask is that you consider what I say: there is no short supply of Christians in the church who are not of European descent. We worship the same Lord Jesus Christ as European Christians, and we have the same passion to spread the Gospel to all nations, races, and cultures. We would love to learn more about your culture, and for Europeans to learn more about ours, because I think that we would all benefit from the experience. Let us also remember that because the Holy Scriptures depict a multitude of nations, tribes, and languages before the throne of God, cultural diversity is holy and pleasing in the sight of God, and it ought to be reproduced in the earthly church.

Actually, in Australia, there is no reason why the country cannot revolve around our religion, I don't even think there is a constitutional principle about the seperation of the church and state, a christian public school for instance, would be fully eligible, and we have every right to keep christianity the central and main religion, which can include restricting the predominance of other religions.
Multiculturalism is also totally and absolutely against everything this country was founded and established for, the 'found fathers' if you will of australia, like edmund barton the first prime minister. If you don't like the values and ideals Australia was established on, rather then disrespecting them and trying to annihalte them, you can leave. Seeing as our current government is very pro-multicultural, it is a wonder why they acknowledge men like Edmund Barton, the constitution writers, and all of the prime ministers up until gough whitlam, why aren't they denouncing them? seeing as they stood for the absolute opposite of everything the current government and status quo stands for.

No, you can leave. If you can't stand where this country is going with its multiculturalism, why don't you go not another "so much better country".

Before this country is religious, it is democratic. If you don't like where Australian democracy is going with Multiculturalism, blame democracy for letting it happen.

Just one contribution to the thread -

Traditionalist wiccans have a Yule tree, so Christians aren't the only ones with trees in December.

And with all the talk about how America is Judaeo-Christian in culture...what does that say about a non-Christian living in America? Am I against American culture? Seeing as I consider Thomas Jefferson to be an icon, I'd hope not...

Never heard about the nuclear meltdown in any of the rioting in Sydney...

But anyway, why don't you just blame the Jews? Myers, the largest & most exclusive department store in Australia is owned by Sydney Myers - a Jew of course.

Now, how can you expect to demand Nativity scenes at Myers... Dial 1300-Hitler?

If you want to identify the real rulers of any society, simply ask yourself this question:
Who is it that I cannot criticize?

You cannot in your right mind criticize Australia for being democratic.

But really, ordinary Aussies are scared of being publicly critical of white tattooed bikie gangs, the most dangerous organised crime perpetrators in Australia.
