• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I gotten to the point where I make fun of perfectionist voice. With my ADD, and simply being human it is impossible to be perfect. I mean I do seek better solutions to problems but I can't let that voice in my head get away with making me feel like a failure.

Making pancakes this morning, trying new way to get more batter to spread out. Thinking how my pancakes don't look perfectly round anymore. Then made a joke how I am the master of making retarded looking pancakes and enjoyed them. lol

I feel like I need to write a book on how imperfect beings suffocate in their need for perfection. =/

I can not see any sign that u r ADD, if i just see what u posted before and now, nothing can prove:)

u r really a testimony of walkinprogess maybe perfect actually....;):p
Thank you restore, your too kind. =)

My ADD is found in my emotional and at home/work struggles. You don't see it here too much, mainly in my blog. You guys see the positive side of me most of the time. Mainly, I love to build people up and help them realize there is so much more to them. Just as God has done for me.

I used to be a perfectionist and now I am a procrastinator! lol. I wish I was closer to being a perfectionist again but I don't care that much to be. Having recurrent chronic depression has done this to me, I think. I also feel that I have done so much housecleaning in my life that I am tired of doing it so I put it off until I get the urge to clean. But I'm not a real sloppy person. I try to keep things organized at least. Sometimes all I can do in a day is sleep the day away.

Accually they are one in the same really.

3. DOING THINGS RIGHT vs. GETTING THINGS DONE:

Doing things right
is a behavior that promotes procrastination. i.e. "If I can't do it perfectly or be the best at what I am going to do, I won't do it at all." This type of internalizing impedes any type of progress or action.

When an ADDer completes projects, accomplishes goals and tasks, without worrying about the consequences or doing it perfectly( black or white thinking), they are getting things done. By completing tasks they feel satisfied and learn from the momentum they have created. . Don't worry about doing things right, just get things done!! You'll feel better.

hmm.. site you a link from where I found this but it doesn't exist any more. =/

Well, at my age I really don't care that I get things done right away. I eventually get them done.

I do the same, put on smooth or soul Jazz.

What I learned is that sucesses help build our mood and energy levels. If you break down choors and stuff into small easy to do tasks. Just check them off one at a time. Get the job done, and get that sense of accomplishment.

Just a suggestion.
