R.S.V.P.s

I am a banquet coordinator, and I'm currently working on my daughter's wedding also, and I've noticed that RSVP's seem to be ignored by a lot of people.

In the case of our banquet, I am not only billed $22 per person who eats, but I am charged an extra 30% if I change my "final count" the day before the banquet, yet, a woman I work with who wanted to be responsible for getting in the RSVP's is really upset that I keep insisting she give me the final number by the caterer's deadline.

In regards to my daughter's wedding. The wedding is next week. The RSVP deadline was last week. I'm still getting calls from people going, "Oh, we'll be there."

Do people understand the purpose of RSVPs? Do they understand this is how you know whether to buy for 10 or 100?

I hear you, girlfriend... I don't blame you for being upset but in this case I would count in the people who verbally said they would come. I know it costs you but I would rather have left overs than not enough food.

Either that or:

Set the elaborate dinner section for those who were considerate enough to R.S.V.P. and hand everyone else a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich... LOL
