January 8, 1989 through February 27, 2007. Just in case you didn't catch that, he was 18 when he died! He killed himself, and it really did hurt a lot of people. He didn't go to my school; I met him at my church! He was a very nice guy. Everytime he came to my youth group at church, he was always making others laugh and he was very outgoing... He was always the life of the party...
He loved to skateboard, and after his death, I was inspired to learn to skateboard... I've always enjoyed watching people skateboard; It's just so cool! That being said, I've never skateboarded myself, and I've never really had a desire to try it... Until now... It'll be kind of scary for me, since I am extremely afraid of falling.. But it'll be good; It'll get me out of my comfort zone... I'm so psyched to start learning!! I'll keep you up to date on what's up with that!
Blake was a unique person. He was kind to everyone regardless of their religion, age, gender, "clique", hobbies, interests, reputations or whatever! He has inspired me to be this same way - accepting of others regardless of what their religion, age, gender, "clique", hobbies, interests, reputations, or whatever! I think that this is the best way to honor his memory!
I wrote two poems. The first one was written when I was not a Christian, so it is slightly devoid of hope. You'll see. Oh, it's also written in French (don't ask), so I have an english translation...

Il est mort...
Il est mort...
Je dois me dire ça,
Ainsi que je crois qu'il est vrai.
Il est mort...
Je dois me dire ça,
Ainsi que je crois qu'il est vrai.
Il est mort...
Encore, je ne peux croire ça!
C'est très triste...
Il est mort...
Encore, je ne peux croire ça!
C'est très triste...
Il est mort...
Il était très comique et ouvert...
Toujours, il faisait me rire...
Il est mort...
Toujours, il faisait me rire...
He Is Dead...
He is dead...
I have to tell myself this,
So that I believe it's true.
He is dead...
I have to tell myself this,
So that I believe it's true.
He is dead...
Still, I can't believe it!
It's very sad...
Still, I can't believe it!
It's very sad...
He is dead...
He was very funny and outgoing...
Always, he made me laugh...
He was very funny and outgoing...
Always, he made me laugh...
He is dead...
He was very nice...
Always, he was the life of the party!
He was very nice...
Always, he was the life of the party!
He is dead...
I will never see him, again...
I will never see his hillarious face, again...
I will never see him, again...
I will never see his hillarious face, again...
He is dead...
I'm angry with him,
Because he made a lot of people upset...
But, I'm sad, because he is gone forever.
I'm angry with him,
Because he made a lot of people upset...
But, I'm sad, because he is gone forever.
He is dead...
I wrote this one after I became a Christian again. I honestly believe he's up in heaven skateboarding. This poem has quote a bit more hope in it.
Skateboarding in Heaven?
A friend's gone!
He has left this crazy world.
He's onto whatever's next...
But what is next?
None of us really know for sure...
Some say there's nothing;
That this life is all there is...
Some say that we're reincarnated;
Coming back to Earth as something or someone else...
I believe in Heaven and Hell...
I believe I'm going to Heaven;
I hope to see my friend there...
Skateboarding, laughing, and entertaining;
Just like he did in his 18 years on Earth...
But I don't know if he's there.
Only God really knows!
And He doesn't seem to be giving us many hints!
I'll just have to wait and see...

I have a sad statistic for you: Every 18 minutes, someone in the United States is lost to suicide.
